keeveek: Well, I guess when a superhero movie gets 60% positive reviews, it means it's pretty good.

Although The Avengers on Rotten Tomatoes got very high reviews, but from the time perspective, I don't think it was that good of a movie.

Iron man 3 got overall positive reviews as well:

I don't know, maybe I'm just too picky. But I expect more from movies, even superhero movies. I have enough of "Will he save the world and get the girl?" story being told over and over again. It's not 1960s anymore.

I will see Man of steel in cinema anyway, probably next week :P I'm afraid there will be shitload of kids in the theatre though.
Sometimes you just got to go in with popcorn, choctop, coke and just enjoy the ride so to say.Leave the nitpicking to the reviewers ;)
I saw it last night at a special premiere.

The plot was somewhat generic, which is fine because the fight scenes where really quite brutal and were great to watch. Also, the editing and cinematography were better in this movie than in the previous one.

There were a couple of scenes that seemed cheesy, but the great fight scenes were really the thing that kept me interested so I could ignore those cheesy parts. I enjoyed the movie and I thought it was better than the previous one, Superman Returns.

I break movies movies apart and analyze and enjoy the separate parts on their own, e.g., direction, soundtrack, cinematography, acting, editing, plot, etc. If you're the type of person who exclusively enjoys masterpieces, then the plot might put you off a little? I didn't think it was a waste of my time though.

Sometimes :P Not in nearly every damn mobie shown in cinemas these days :P
Odd question. Why did they choose to basically do a reboot of the movie after the last one?.

Because the last one sucked?

Thats a poor excuse. I didnt mind it too much. Just weird they had new guy in that one. and now another one with a different guy
I hope I see Superman kickass, I am getting tired of him saving falling planes, and stoping Lex Luthor, I want to see fight a villian on the level of Goku vs Superman :P

That's exactly why I enjoyed this. He pounds the shit out of dudes. And he takes a beating too. It really takes advantage of the fact that he's Superman.

He doesn't just hit, he hits hard. The fight scenes are juicy.

I'd rather it wasn't a reboot, but hopefully this does well enough so that the next ones can continue from here rather than restart every time.

Brandon Routh was ultimately forgettable as Superman because he wasn't allowed to act as anything other than a stand-in for Christopher Reeves. Also, his lean swimmer's body wouldn't have worked here. Cavill is big and juicy, perfect for an action film.

Also is it a long movie, because judging from the trailers we see the whole film spanning from when Superman was born on Krypton to the climax with General Zod.

Is it The Dark Knight/Hobbit?

I don't know what stands for a long movie these days, but man of steel is nearly 2 and a half hours long.

Which is good. I feel ripped off when I pay the same amount for a 1h30min movie...

I'm finding it increasingly hard to eek up any sort of excitement to see movies in theaters anymore, not to mention how sick I am of superhero movies. I'll probably go since my dad's going, but if he wasn't I wouldn't really care enough to go.

I do want to see Pacific Rim tho.

Longer doesn't mean better. I can think of several Ron Howard movies that had long scenes of nothingness.. ugh! Anyway, short or long doesn't really matter as long as a movie doesn't outstay its welcome.

I understand that, I just find long good movies like Godfather and Lord of the Rings more better.
