I have beaten the map the "legit" way, though I've not found any other way that can produce consistent victories. Basically by spamming Paladins you have a chance of winning the map, though it will still work far less than 1/4 of the time. Embassies can still hold two heroes on that map, just like any other, so it is worth getting one or two in case you go for the "legit" way (it will be cheaper than spamming guilds)

I'm too lazy to turn off collecting tax from houses, but yes it is generally speaking better to do that, at least with the hard to reach houses, or at least tell your tax collectors to not gather gold from anything that holds less than 75 gold.

And with this strategy, expect to win about 3/4 of the time. If your heroes gets too lair raiding happy early on, that might still make you lose. The "a change of heart" spell is mandatory, and you need to keep constant track of your raid happy heroes.

Good, I wasn't even sure if it is possible to beat it legitimely. :-)
Yeah, I used embassies and outpost to have more heroes. Then I used Sorcerors Abode to gate my heroes to barrows. It would be all legit not to be that gambling. :-)
I had problem with paladins taht they take too long to kill some creatures and it costed me precious time. Solars backed up by spell were much more useful for me here.
Heh, it made me eager to play again. I will have to try this level soon. :-)

Ha, so it is actually know tactics? Good, I figured some known tactics by myself. :-) I am more lazy to tell collectors to have minimal amount of gold. :-)

Yeah, I saw that. Solars are terrible with this. And paladins too. I did Balance of Twilight recently as I got it with that Majesty Steam update and they kept running and running to challenge those invulnerable phantoms. I gave up on their scaring and ressurecting eventually and ressurected them from mausoleum after I made them vulnerable.
I loved this game. Still have it on disc. I'd like to get the HD version, though.

Wasn't as thrilled with Majesty 2 for some reason.

The reason why I find Paladins to still be better than the other heroes is because you don't need to babysit them, you can just let them run wild (as long as they don't destroy a barrow), and things will usually turn out for the best. With more fragile heroes you will always run the risk of one wandering away and getting killed by something embarrassing. Heck, I've had paladins take on multiple rock golems and walk away relatively unharmed. Soleians are great though, in particular if a paladin decides to tank, and it is my go-to level 3 castle temple, and it is a viable strategy on many maps to just try to get a level 3 palace ASAP so that you can get them.

Oh, and don't forget mages on Legendary Heroes, in case you don't want to cheap out. Mages are great for clearing the way for your other heroes.

With paladins you do at least have a bit more time to act, those darn sun worshipers have a tendency of going down really fast when you are not looking.

I found Majesty 2 to be quite alright, but the heroes just lacked personality in it, which puts it far below the first game.
Sorry for the necropost, but today's HD update has me wondering if there's an HD patch out there for the disc version of Majesty Gold. I've searched, but haven't found one.

Is the only way to get the HD version to purchase it again?

Thanks!

If you have the disc version, that's the only way.

Although in the same stroke, the only way to get Stronghold HD free was if you had it already had it here. I assume that Gamersgate and Steam users saw similar upgrades, can't say for sure though.

OK, Thanks. I'll just stick with what I have then.

Actually, FireFly released HD patches for ALL users, including physical copies.
Sad that Paradox or whoever didn't do the same for Majesty Gold.

Thanks again for confirming what I thought.
