JoeSapphire: "hooooooo. Is this some sort of monitoring device that they're using to check up on the crazies?"
Half convinced by my own rationalisation, I go back to my pack near the door.
Then stop and turn back.
"What even is this thing?"
I pick up the evidence bag and shake it, staring into the mystifying contents hoping for a pang of understanding.
agitate/examine evidence While doing so I glance about meaningfully at my fellows, silently attempting to distinguish a non-crazy who could provide some support or information.
Looking again at the small whatever it is, you try to puzzle out what it could be....shaking the bag a bit just for the fun of it. As you do so, you notice the object starts to glow a tad brighter, and something else.......the
chittering noise the creature has been making on and off for the past few minutes(behind the couch) is starting to get a bit louder, and more agitated in nature.
Walking toward the couch, you motion for those nearby to get back so you can test something. Shaking the bag a bit more near the couch, you notice the creature has come closer to the edge of the space behind the couch........seemingly drawn to the object in your hands.
"What in blue blazes?" you mumble to yourself, before thinking of something. Running back to the Belongings Room you spot it. On top of a set of belongings lockers you see an old aquarium
(Fish/turtle tank....about 2 feet x 1 foot.). Grabbing it you rush back to the couch and tilt it on it's side, placing your hand with the plastic bag inside. Shaking it slowly at first and then a bit more wildly, you watch as the creature looks ready to pounce.
"C'mon, you git.....c'mon!" you think to yourself as you wait. You don't have to wait long, as the creature pounces into the tank, allowing you only mere moments to remove your hand and the bag from the tank, right it, and seal it shut with it's lid.
Carefully standing up with your "prize", you bring it over to the center of the room and place it on the table there, next to the bag of scales found earlier. Holding the bag with the small unusual object still, you bring it near the tank once more......the creature sees it and bumps into the side of the tank trying to get at it. Lucky for you it isn't strong enough to break out.....for now anyways.
In anger and frustration, the creature bares it's tiny yet razor sharp teeth at you, before it rolls into a ball-like shape in a corner of it's prison.
"Now just what is going on here? And why do you want this doodad so much, eh?" you say as you stare at your newfound captive.......
