SirPrimalform: OOC: Well, if you insist.
Use first aid kit with Charlie. Picking up the first aid kit, you go over to where Charlie lays as some of the others merrily ransack the supply closet and the Bunkroom guard station.
"Dammit....they're gonna get all the good stuff" you think to yourself as you open the kit and survey it's contents. This
is where you shine though......in the manipulation of flesh to various ends. Usually it's flesh that's been dead for some time, and most of your prior experience has been with small animals found here and there, but stitching is still stitching & bandaging a wound is like second nature to you.
Inside the kit you find bandages(both the stick on kind and the rolled kind you find in hospitals), antiseptic spray, antibiotic cream, and other assorted basic first aid supplies. Picking up a roll of bandages and the antiseptic spray you place them on the ground next to you as you lift the torn arm of Charlie's coat to find a makeshift bandage(apparently made of a ripped up bath towel) covering most of Charlie's upper right arm. Removing it you see that the wound(what looks like a two inch long series of bite marks and gashes along the middle of Charlie's upper arm)has started to become infected as discolored pus(fluids, blood, etc) covers most of the wound area.
"Gah, this seems bad.......well at least it doesn't look to be gangrenous yet." you say to Charlie as you ready your scalpel by spraying it with antiseptic.
"I'm gonna try to be as careful as possible here but id' recommend you take one of those pillows there are bite on it or something while I operate." "Operate?! Is....is that necessary?" Charlie asks as he eyes your scalpel with nervous eyes. You wonder if it's due to an aversion to surgery/being cut or the fact that it's a patient that's about to operate on him as you explain to him that the wound has to be irrigated and cleaned before you can bandage it up to avoid risk of further infection.
"Ok then, but be careful ok?" Charlie says as he grabs a pillow from the couch he's laying on and places one edge between his teeth.
"I'll try not to make you into a limbless war veteran or anything." you joke before setting to work......carefully cutting the dead or infected tissue from around the wound, using some of the bandages to mop up the small amounts of blood flow and whatever pus covers the wound area. Within minutes most of it is cleared away though, and you eye your work with pride before grabbing the antiseptic spray and applying a liberal amount to the wound as well as some of the antibiotic cream.
Wrapping the affected area in bandages and tying it off carefully, you then set your sights on the wound on Charlie's belly.
"Well that bit's done.....now for the second course." you say as you examine it in detail. Luckily for him it doesn't seem to you to be too bad. The cut, while long(3+inches) isn't deep and doesn't look to be in need of scalpel work. Taking some more bandages from the roll you wipe the area clean of any blood and spray it with antiseptic spray and apply antibiotics to it as well before taking a large area bandage(dunno what they're called) and applying it to the wound site. After you've finished you rip the torn end off of Charlie's coat(the right arm portion which was torn) to make future cleaning of the wound easier before you offer your "patient" some of your Venison Jerky to help speed recovery.
"Thanks. I haven't eaten in who knows how long." he says as he accepts a few pieces of jerky, placing them on his chest before starting to eat them with a look of appreciation on his face.
Putting the unused supplies back in the kit, you stand up and tell Charlie to finish eating and get a bit of rest in if possible.
"And don't go moving unless it's necessary....I don't want to have you dying on me so soon after all that fine work I just did." "No problem......hmm, I just had a funny thought. It's kinda ironic now, what with me being your patient now and you being the "doc" and all, ain't it? I never thought i'd see the day you guys would be tending to me at any rate." he says as he finishes the jerky and lays back once more.
You just smile and chuckle a bit in reply to lighten the mood as you put the rest of the jerky away and think about what to do next.
