drmlessgames: What a coincidence, I had just been playing Mafia since Monday, and today I finally uninstalled it. After playing GTA I can't stand playing this. The driving is slow, going uphill is a chore. Making realistic at the expense on fun is not good imo. The city was great though, i think i may try it again only for the Freeride thing, where it's like GTA, just run around, shoot gansters, steal cars and such. It's interesting that the city in Mafia does look like something from GTA IV, and Mafia was made back during the gta3 era. Oh, and at one point, while driving, i fell off the map. Yes, the car fell off the damn street and into a pit. That's why i uninstalled it.
Why would you do that because of one bug?
Anyway, don't bother with the freeride part, it's pretty tacked on and nothing like as good as cruising around GTA cities. Mafia is a story game. The city is awesome, and they gave it heaps of atmosphere, but everything it based around the story.
Still confused why so many people hate the driving, I didn't have a single problem with it, it was about half way between GTA physics and sim physics, but it was never hard. After the first car everything gets much faster, and by the later part of the game it's pretty speedy.
The mission where you're driving through the city streets at night in the race car is almost too fast... but that's why it's such a cool mission.
