CaptainGyro: I have no idea what you're talking about with the "telling you how to run your life" part

htown1980: I was a while ago, but I'm pretty sure that I got a pop up saying something like "break up with your girlfriend, quit your job, and play more computer games".

I'm pretty sure that's what it said.
If it also said "Kill them all" then i'd consider getting a priest to bless that rig of yours......well unless you like free pea soup and all.
If memory serves, Steam versions of LucasArts adventure games have altered data files for the sole purpose of making them incompatible with ScummVM. Whoever came up with this should be burned at the stake.

That's a little hard for me to swallow (was there any unoffiicial statement from anyone at LucasArts to that effect?) but it does make sense given LucasArts' general MO. It's disgraceful that they'd do such a thing.

http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=10579 LA haven't fixed the compatibility issue since 2009, so I guess it is deliberate.

Wow, that's freaking terrible. I never even bothered launching the Steam versions, I just bought them to justify the ScummVM versions I was already playing.
well thanks everyone for your input. Disappointing the steam versions dont work with scummvm, surely the direct2drive ones wouldnt work with it either..

Just do what StingingVelvet did and buy a copy off of D2D or steam and then pirate a working copy to use with ScummVM.
You can use the LucasArts Adventure Pack with ScummVM (though it sounds like there's some unresolved issues with Loom):

Navagon: D2D will soon be no more. I wouldn't recommend buying anything from them.

Foxhack: 1: The installers are DRM-free. Buy, download, backup.

2: Was that comment because they were bought out by Gamefly?
It's about this I believe:

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/direct2drive_important_please_read

Basically it seems they'll be forcing a client soon and they're not even supporting game guides anymore. (from skimming through it)

rampancy: Wait, what? What do you mean?
I mean that D2D was bought out by Gamefly. Instead of keeping D2D they're simply using D2D's user accounts instead and transferring those to Gamefly.

Not all games will be available for sale and not all games will remain in your account. That will start in January so now's a bad time to be making purchases from D2D, even if they're DRM-free.

Bought out and folded, yes. D2D won't be around anymore by the end of the year. They're transferring the accounts, but not all the games will be on Gamefly, so not all of your games will be in your account (maybe, you might get lucky).

So at this point in time it's risky making even a DRM-free purchase. If something goes wrong with the transaction then you won't have any time to sort that out. Especially not over the Christmas period.

Which games does the pack contain? Looks like it's not available in Germany.

Indiana Jones® and the Fate of Atlantis™ , The Dig® , Indiana Jones® and the Last Crusade™, LOOM™.

Oh boy, I can't wait to see what shit they try to pull with MobyGames. Them being bought out is why I left in the first place.

Right now it looks like some kind of account smash and grab going on at D2D. So who knows? Maybe they'll do the same with Mobygames? It just seems to me that they want to get as many people on Gamefly as they can. I'd imagine that at the very least it will be re-branded and become a part of some kind of Gamefly network.
I used to "love" "Loom" so I have to say : buy the pack (I think that "Loom" is worth the money by itself).....
