Well, this is the first time I've played the game in a long, long time. I was introduced to it at my cousin's house when I was really, really young, and I remember it being a blast. I don't know what CD sound would be. People seem to have voices, and I heard music in cutscenes, and blaster, force, and lightsabers. Also, I'm not sure how to access the original thing, because it automatically loads up Mysteries of the Sith. Is there a way to navigate to the regular JK campaign from those menus?

No, the cutscenes' music would be a part of the video file. The music in question is a Star Wars style orchestral score, which plays during the game. Your comment, taken at face value would suggest is absent.

Man, that kind of sucks. At least I'm not used to hearing any, otherwise I'd be cross.
Anyway, how do I access Jedi Knight from MotS?

There should be music while you're playing, not just in the cut scenes. This music was stored as audio CD tracks on the original game disc, i.e. they were playable on an audio CD player.

How do you mean access it? It's effectively a separate game. MotS even uses an enhanced engine compared to the JK one. You'd have to close one game and open the other.

Looks like I actually have to install both. It confused me, since they were listed so far apart in my Games folder.

Well, I'm poor so I can't afford the whole $19.99 (unless one of you are nice people), so I'm just getting Jedi Academy since I've never played it before. Well, probably on Friday, just so I can see what the Weekend Deal is.

IM pretty sure there going to reboot Jedi Knight with updated graphics... sorta like what there doing with ROTT and all the other games of old... could be why they wanted to keep there distribution network tight.

I think that's more likely to apply just to the adventure games. Namely, the rest of the Monkey Island series. FPS have changed a lot since
JK. It would be great to bring back the atmosphere and storyline, but the gameplay mechanics would need an overhaul. Especially the lightsabre battles. Those could really be taken up a notch.

I don't want to say something bad concerning LucasArts, because they have made the first step in reconciliating with their (retro-)gamers, but on this one... I'm so sad they don't even patch their games.
So far, even if I would never buy a game from Steam:
- Republic Commando: problem with recent graphic cards not fixed > useless buy
- Dark Forces: no vertical mouselook, uses dosbox > useless buy
- Jedi Knight & MotS: problem with recent graphic cards not fixed > useless buy
- Jedi Outcast & Jedi Academy: don't have any trouble to play these > useless buy
As I already have those titles in original boxed versions, I still don't see a good deal here...
Gamers complain for years about the lack of support from LucasArts. Now they, at last, sell those games again, but... there's still no real support!!

Wait, wait, wait... the Steam version works? Holy hell...
Well, I guess they had to do something, because I can only barely make the retail version work in the 32-bit version of either Vista or 7. I wonder if I can use my discs with the Steam version, because if that is possible, my willpower might buckle enough to buy it from there.
As long as you're not a total, immense and completely dense noob, finding stuff without viruses is easier than finding good legal alternatives.
