Thank god it ended. I almost thought JJ Abrams had gone mad. Well actually I thought he went mad in the finale anyway.

I watched season one on DVD years ago and it felt like a show that would never explain anything, which wasn't really my style at the time. I could also see the ending coming a mile away, even then, and as I look at spoiler forums today I see I had it right on the money.
Still, my tastes are always evolving, and I have considered renting season one again and watching it with my wife, her first time. See if I like it more now, or if she likes it at all.
I watched ONE episode in the first or second season, and got a dreadful feeling of "hey guys lets just make something up that the people will watch even if it makes no goddamn sense". No offence to die-hard viewers, but that's how I really felt then.
Never seen a single Lost episode (too much advertising about it, do not want). And I'm doing fine nonetheless....
Well, watched the first episode and watched every episode since then. Still waiting for them to broadcast the final season here. I actually liked Lost. Not the best of shows but sure beats watching Reality TV spam anytime.
can somebody sum up the series for me in few sentences.
From wiking the last episode i found that *SPOILERS*
The first crash killed all of the passengers and they are in afterlife...
don't know enough to understand it completely so...
please share info. just few pointers. never gonna watch lost anyway.

As I understand, Abrams had little to do with the show after the first half of the 1st season. I enjoyed the show throughout it's run. Even without some of the mysteries not being explained.

SPOILERS
The passengers did not die in the crash. Some died during the show's time period, some died after the last episode's time. They all met in some stopover before moving onto 'heaven?'. All the stuff on the island actually happened in their lives.

Yea, the passengers were alive during the whole show. In the last season they had this flash sideways alternate universe that they hadn't explained until the last 5 minutes of the finale, which ended up being purgatory where the people met up prior to 'moving on'. It was purely to give the show an emotional close and to show how they were happy even though most of them had died, but totally superflous to the actual story line of the rest of the series.
Is this about some kind of television show?

That whole afterlife thing was the most WTF I had ever seen on TV in a while. More WTF than Star Trek Voyager.

Did you by chance see the ending to battlestar galactica? after that fiasco this was awesome in comparison... which is not saying much.

Yes, it had its US series finale yesterday

What, you mean Lost actually ended? I'm sorry, but it was a LITTLE too long to keep me interested. I always lose interest in TV series when they get prolonged, although at some point I thought Lost was even more than prolonged, something like infinite maybe, Well, I hope it was worth watching for those who actually watched it till the end.

ilves: I did actually. It wasn't WTF, more like "I want to tear my eyeballs out and what the hell happened here". Lost was WTF in that it was INSANELY CONFUSING AND NOTHING MADE SENSE AT THE END.

It's annoying how every sci-fi show seems to throw God at you at the end, like some sort of message about not letting sci-fi distract you from the actual truth that God made everything. It's annoying to me, and I am sure to many other sci-fi fans who on average probably don't like being preached to.
I expect Fringe to suddenly be about Jesus any time now.
michael?
why don't you like voyager? It had its weak episodes but there were some great stuff out there.
and ending was epic.
Admiral Janeway would slaughter silly Picard.
Deep Space Nine is the best tough.
anyhow:
didn't they say that Lost island is NOT purgatory?
