What's good for business is fine if it isn't deceptive and fair weather self serving. If he hated Steam, don't sign with them. If something changed since then, fine, give us loyal supporters steam credits.

The smell of money can change your view on something and if you have no spine (like Brad), it is even easier to throw away your ideals.

I guess I'm confused by this, why? I mean you still can play all your Stardock games the same way you always could, via the boxed copy or Impulse, why are you demanding Steam keys all of the sudden?

Would someone mind posting links etc. to where they find Brad hating Steam and everything else that gets you folks to call him a hypocrite because I haven't honestly seen any of it. Most of what I've read from him in the past was usually stuff about the behind the scenes stuff from Stardock games.

Maybe I missed one of his posts, but none of the ones I read mentions hate for Steam. Most if not all state that he likes Steam and Steamworks (as tools). Seems like he was just sharing his disappointment that Civ V was going to be a Steam exclusive, then forced to defend himself and his position as the owner of Impulse and due to E:WoM requiring Impulse for updates.

I found this bit from one of his comments a little humorous considering what's happened with EA and Valve over DLC, and Crysis 2 and DA2 disappearing from the store.

"If anyone, Steam, Impulse, what have you, were to gain an insurmountable marketshare, then you would, as a practical matter, have to sell your title on that platform and be forced to adhere to whatever standards the platform owner decides to issue."

It was his decision not to carry Steamworks titles, and I agree with that Derek Smart column that it was a stupid way to go, but he decided to take the moral? point of view. It would be a completely different case mind you if he starts releasing Stardock games as Steamworks only. I would agree then that he was hypocritical.

Also why is Derek Smart's name familiar? I looked up his games, but I've never heard of them.

A question for people who played Sins of a Solar Empire:

When I start the game in steam it gives me 3 choices to start a game of Sins of a Solar Empire, Entrenchment (I think) and Trinity.

So witch one to play? I thought the expansions just added stuff to the original, not that they were divided like different games.

They do just add stuff to the original base game, however the developers allow you to run the base game without them, since some people prefer to play the original without additions.
Entrenchment will give you the starbases and siege ships as well as the upgrades that came with them and was the first expansion, Trinity contains the first expansion content and also the Diplomacy expansion content which greatly expands the interactions and diplomatic options between races and also increases the influence of the pirate nation.

Thanks fo clearing it up, thought Trinity was supposed to be the "ultimate" version, but that start up menu just made me confused.

lol, no! I believe I was just getting into PC gaming around the time his first game came out and I was obsessed with Mechwarrior 2.
