I'm very very sorry. :(
Sorry to hear about your dog :(

Just thinking of the time of year, could your dog have got near some antifreeze eg. licking at a pool of water on the road? How about getting at some chocolate, that is really bad for dogs.

Hope your dog gets well soon.
This is sad to read, reaver894. A 12-year-old dog can be considered old, but most dogs live many years more. I really hope she gets better.

Best wishes.

Sachys: Sad to hear that. Not much else I can say of value mate.
This. Wish you (and your dog) all the best.

Definitely no anti freeze or such, this dog wont even go for a pee outside the garden unless she absolutely has to go. And when she has went short walks recently we keep an eye on her, for a large dog who's breed was designed for hunting lions she jumps at her own shadow so we have to keep an eye out for basically everything.

She did eat a bit of a plant in the garden that ill be damned if i can spell but i looked it up online earlier (thanks to my dear mom for knowing its name as she gave me the damn thing) and spoke to the vet and it shouldnt cause anything apart from some gas, took a cutting and the name to the vets for them to check. I suppose its possible she could have a reaction to it but she eats that damn plant every year, and every year i dig the fucking thing up and every year the bastarding thing grows back.
All the best reaver, I hope it is nothing serious. We will all be thinking of you and hoping you get good news on Friday.

Dunno if this diagnostic tool will help :

My own dogs are half Ridgeback and Half Husky, I would be gutted if anything happened to them.
I'm sorry to hear this reaver894. I hope she pulls through it all!
Very sorry to hear about your family friend ...my dog is my little buddy and loves to sit and watch movies and games with me..I wish you and yours the best and i know exactly how i would feel if i was in your shoes.Best of wishes and God bless.
Sorry to hear that.... I hope everything works itself out.
Oh no, I'm so sorry, Reaver... :-(

I think that this situation is made so much worse by the fact that our fuzzy family members can't speak to us, can't say what hurts and their suffering is so difficult to watch since we can't offer specific help. I truly, truly hope it is a passing illness and that she recovers.

Having lost four childhood dogs, two cats that I had in young adulthood and two dogs more recently, all I can really say is that their lives are far, far too short. Many might be less inclined to be supportive of the illness or loss of a pet than a human family member, but it hurts equally badly in my considered opinion.

As to surgeries and other invasive procedures, I've had to make some very difficult choices in the past. In several cases, I ultimately decided that putting my beloved pet through more things that they would have no way of comprehending - chemo was advised in one case - it was best to just say goodbye. I have to say that there might be more difficult decisions one has to face in life but not many... So, trust what your heart tells you if it comes to that and know that whatever you decide, you did the right thing.

{hugs}

Very sorry to hear about your dog being sick reaver894. Hope she will get better soon!

Just a quick info on grapes and dogs: grapes can be toxic to dogs. Not sure if you told your vet about it and had him/her check if that could be the cause, but would suggest to tell him/her about it if you havn't done so already.

Yup, i did mention it but this did start before she managed to do that.

Thank you all again for your kind words.

I have been working most of today, been home for under 1 and a 1/2 hours but im informed she has been a "wee fusspot" She certainly is feeling sorry for herself. She ate 3/4 of her breakfast before i left and had the other bit at about 09.30, and she ate all of her dinner this evening so that is a good thing. Still seems to be drinking plenty
