I wish all the best with your dog. As a fellow owner of a big dog I know they can get into more mischief than smaller dogs that can cause them to get sick. I hope that she gets better and like others have said have her push fluids in case it is some thing she ingested that is making her ill. I know this is a long shot but check her body for any welts/swelling/etc... as my dog got a serious infection due to a bee sting and it getting infected (thankfully the worst thing that happened was some muscle atrophy in the face since the vet said it was potentially life threatening). I am sure you probably checked this but I figured I would suggest it anyway. Good luck, and best wishes to you and your dog. :)

Melvinica: I hope your dog gets well cause I can imagine what you feel. I lost mine last summer at almost 14 years of age and it's quite hard.

That's Melvin my dog in the picture.
Lovely looking chap
Let's just hope your dog is only just sick or something, and will get better soon.

A few years ago, I lost my rabbit and deaths are hard to deal with so I can only say that hope for the best... but prepare for the worst :(

You have my deepest sympathies. Might be that her time's come, though I sincerely hope she gets better. In the end, I just hope that she goes peacefully, whenever that may be.

Thank you yes we checkd her for swellings and things that would maybe show from the outside, she only has a skin tag she has had since she was a pup and a fatty lump on her front left leg. It was biopsied a few years ago.

Agree'd, at her age I dont think it would be fair to have much in the way of surgery or stuff. It comes to what is fairest to the dog, We all want to keep our pets as long as we are able but keeping them when it could be causing them suffering is very unfair.

Older pets dont mix all that well with anesthetics either so that too is a concern

No problem, be sure to check the inside of her mouth too. I have seen some cases where stings have occurred, for one reason or another, in the mouth.

Ah, good, good then. I still, never-the-less, hope everything to works out for the best.
I really hope the vet has some encouraging news, but as was said 12 years is getting up there for a big dog. It sounds like you've given her a good home, which is what matters most.

I just lost one of my dogs just before Christmas and I really miss her (different circumstances, though). Driving her to the vet and being there for her as they gently put her to sleep was the hardest thing I've ever done, no matter how many people said we were doing the right thing.
It's very sad to lose a pet (a weird word for someone who is actually a family member ) I lost my dog last year. He was 15 so pretty old for a dog his size.

I hope that your dog starts feeling better and having long walks once more, and if not... well, make sure to stay by her side and make sure that she feels loved.
So sorry dude :(
Wish you the best and hopes everything goes out the best way possible
Thank you everyone!

All your kind words and messages are very much appreciated. I will try to keep you informed of what happens bu i wont know more till Friday morning or possibly evening depending on when the test results come in.
The poor dear, I hope she only has a mild bout of something. This is certainly the season for all mammals in the northern hemisphere to come down with a bug. Keep her warm and hydrated, and please let us know what the vet says.
Sad to hear that. Not much else I can say of value mate.
