I'm in a very specific mood right now. I'm in the mood for a game that fulfills all the following criteria:
-It needs to be turnbased
-It needs to be a fantasy game
-It needs to be a game focusing mainly on the tactical element (i.e. not a strategy game)
-It needs to be on PC (or possibly Wii, though I much prefer playing my games in front of a computer)

I would also like it to:
-have persistent units between missions
-Be relatively bright & colorful
-be challenging

Basically I'm looking for something along the line of Elven Legacy/Fantasy Wars (which would be perfect matches). I'm not looking for a strategy game like HoMM, Age of Wonders or Warlock: master of the Arcane. Those games are great, but it is not what I'm in the mood for.

Also, I have played Battle for Wesnoth, Fantasy General, Elven legacy, Fantasy Wars, King's Bounty, Temple of Elemental Evil (not exactly what I'm looking for either, but it is not that far off the mark when you think about it), Ascension to the Throne (interesting premise, but flawed), Fire Emblem-series, Shining Force-series and probably a lot of other games that I've forgot about.
*edit* Tried Telepath, but it crashes during activation.

Best suggestion gets a game from my stash of leftover bundle keys!

Once when I was about 16 (so about 15 years ago), I went into my local "Game" store. Asked what RPGs they had, went through the ones I had played. After a number of suggestions followed by "Played it", the guy turned to me and said "Look, you've played them all, I can't magic up new games". I think he was subtlely suggesting I needed to get a life.

While the "Get a life" part obviously does not count, I get the feeling that from your list, you're only going to be trying the weaker of the bunch.

So fire up Mark Of Chaos, and press the pause button every 20 seconds. Best advice I've got I'm afraid.

Ah bummer, now you made me depressed :( The empty feeling of knowing that you have played it all.

And I've sadly played Mark of Chaos+expansion (,Dark Omen & Shadow of the Horned Rat).
Good topic. This is also my favorite gaming genre. I hope there will be good answers but I fear the love of creators turn based strategy is not very big anymore.

Potential candidates:
http://www.warbarons.com/
http://aterdux.com/projects/legends-of-eisenwald/
Langrisser: The Art of Swords War.

It's an enhanced port of a console game, very much in the mould of Fire Emblem and Shining Force. Only trouble is, it was only released in Japan- it's been translated though, so it's perfectly playable, it just might be hard to get hold of legitimately.
Fantasy General is the best turn-based fantasy wargame I've ever played. Now, to get a copy of it though, that's a different story...

Well, I think it would be an interesting experiment with a "Pausable RTS". Set yourself a rule that you can only act while paused, and can only pause every X seconds. Slower games like MoC, Shogun, etc. may actually allow you to make them TBS if you are strict enough with yourself.
Well, I guess this counts Master of Magic right out, then :P

(no, I don't want the keys, I just like attempting to make suggestions :D)
ZOMG!!!

Thank you Red Avatar and co!

Warbarons looks a lot like Warlords (which I would classify as strategy), but Legends of Eisenwald seem to be just what I'm looking for!
But its not released :( Dang it. Still, I think that pointing me in the direction of that game is enough to warrant giving out a key:

So take a pick:
Steam
Nikopol
Abe's oddesey
Hamilton's Great Adventure
Commandos Behind Enemy Lines
Commandos Beyond the Call of Duty
Commandos 2
Trauma
Shadowgrounds Survivor
Guns of Icarus
Alien Breed 2

desura:
Pitman
Dark Scavenger
SOL Exodus

If anyone has any more suggestions, I would love to hear them (and I might give out another key or two)

Aye :( I've heard of the Langrisser series (Warsong in the western world, only released on Mega Drive), but getting a legitimate copy will probably be hard and/or expensive.

Sadly, yes. I already have MoM, but it is a strategy game (one that I really enjoyed)

I've already played that one :(

Is Elemental not a strategy game? I looked at the first one, but it was apparently downright broken. Sadly strategy is now what I'm looking for right now.
"I've already played that one :( "

Oh...

*looks around very embarrassed* :$

You have good taste though, sir :D

Eh this is kind of a bad genre to ask suggestions for PC games, since for the most part japanese developers leaned towards making tactical based "strategy" games for consoles while western/pc market is oriented more towards broader simulation/strategy based "strategy" games.

main one I can think of offhand is Vantage Master Online. It's free, at any rate.

Maybe Langrisser? Mostly the console ones like Der Langrisser and Langisser 4 got translated, but there's a disc image of a korean PC port that got fully translated floating around.

as far as wii games go, the only ones I can think of are Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn and Phantom Brave. You'd have more options if you had a Ps2 or PSP or what have you (or were open to emulation).
