tinyE: As said Gothic is great, the control system takes a while, a long while, to get used to but once you do it works REALLY REALLY well. Love that game. Enclave is great too; little more thought inducing than Gothic with a really interesting magic system (you have to actually do the incantations with the mouse).
I've never played Enclave, so I could be wrong, but it sounds like you are describing Arx Fatalis.

Also, I totally agree with you about Gothic.
GOG has Die by the Sword and Deathtrap Dungeon but I've not played either - seem to be run around waving swords at people things though, plus there's that D&D one - Demon Stone, you'll have to wait for someone with 1st hand experience of that one too, I'm afraid...
I like the Gothic series, just finished Gothic 3 a few months ago. I picked up Two Worlds 2 Epic Edition on sale and installed it just to see if it would be a good follow up for G3.

Been playing it ever since. You can leave one quest active if you don't want quest markers on your map. If you do get stuck you can activate any quest and get a quest maker on your map. The camera can be a tad annoying till you get used to it and there are lots of cut scenes but they add story.

The Gothic games can be sorta difficult early on. I found the wolves in G3 almost impossible to kill til I was stronger. TW2 is more forgiving and just plain fun IMHO. . =)

Yeah I was, I just wanted to see if anyone else noticed that. :P

Oh and I have a bridge over here, yours at a real cheap price. :D

I've heard some pretty terrible things about Deathtrap Dungeon honestly. :P I thought that was the perfect game for me when they first put it on GOG till I watched some video reviews and gameplay of it. I mean maybe at the sale price it'd be worth a bit of tinkering but it does seem pretty rough, nowhere near as bad as the PS1 version I've heard.
Die by the Sword looks interesting . I'm worried if the graphics would cause eye strain judging by the screen caps though.

Two Worlds did get my attention I heard that the first one was in pretty bad shape but the sequel seemed to improve on it. the more I hear about the Gothic series the more intrested I am though, I cant wait to play through them. supposedly G3's expansion was awful though.

I remember seeing Arx Fatalis for the Xbox a long time ago! it sort of reminds me of Dark Messiah. I think it'd be worth checking out too :) lucky this sale came along with all the suggestions or I'd be pretty damn broke after this!

Dark Messiah is by the same developer studio that did Arx Fatalis, so no coincidence there. :)

I can't promise that you'll feel the same way, but Arx Fatalis, Enclave and Blade of Darkness (judging by the few I've seen of the latter so far) are among my favorite games on GOG. All great immersive action based dungeon crawlers with a dark fantasy theme, despite their differences.

Certainly you have already played through Ultima Underworld 1 + 2?

Or Legend of Grimrock perhaps?

Not certain if Thief -series are what youre looking for, but steampunk / low-fantasy kinda of setting with lots of stuff to pilfer. Ive played the first two and really liked them. Havent yet tried the third one. It seems the series will be fashionably rebooted - hopefully theyll manage it well.

In return for your excellent bridge offer, I'll tell you a secret about Arx Fatalis.

I found the demo atmosphere totally engrossing, but what really sold me on the game was the ability to bake pies in a dungeon. I was stupidly happy finding and combining all the ingredients.

I've had it on my wish list since I joined here in December. If I was in the middle of ten other 'similar' games I'd buy in right now.

Just about everyone says that you should use the 'Arx Liberatis' source port for Arx Fatalis, but you should find all the info on that in a sticky on the game specific forum - you should always check those here on gog.com for community patches, wide screen mode patches, source ports and the like, always handy!

Glad to know! I've been on this really big dungeon crawling kick lately, not sure what exactly sparked it but it even has me looking at Dungeons and Dragons Online.

and those games being by the same developer explains so much. haha, if its anything like Dark Messiah, I will fall in lov with it.

I've yet to touch the Ultima games honestly, but I have played Legend of Grimrock and that's like the experience I'm looking for in a way, I love the hidden items and riddles, I just always preferred a 3rd person camera view for my dungeon crawlers, or top down like Torchlight and Diablo.

I havent done too much looking on the forums I'm usually very tweaked about interacting with the gaming community for some reason or another, but that does sound incredibly helpful! anything to get the best experience for sure!

Arx Fatalis is first person, and it's an hommage to the Ultima Underworld games. In Enclave you can switch between first person and third person view.
I love Ultima as a retro gamer but I have to be totally honest and think it's going to be somewhat of a letdown for someone looking for a solid rpg/dungeon crawl/slash whatever it is you are looking for. I liken it to Doom or Wolfenstein 3d; they are nice to have and to play from time to time and their value to gaming is immeasurable, but at the end of the day they are little more that nostalgia trips.

Arx certainly does look like it'd be an interesting one to play. I think I may end up grabbing that before the sale is over as well.

it does seem like Ultima is a bit dated, maybe too much for me but at $2.99 I think it'll end up being worth a shot, especially given I missed out on it the first time, always good to play the history to know where some of your favorites come from. ^^

Gothic saga is so good, that the hundreds of bugs and bad designs it has never mind at all. I had a 200h Oblivion gameplay experience, but the OBSSESION I felt in me during Gothic I & II (never made to play G3 due to my lack of PC strenght) I never felt it in no other game since Doom.

This is the only game I've played, where you can enter in an Orc camp, plenty of green bad ass motha fuckas to say "hi" and run out to the human camp with 3 or 5 Orcs following you....guess what happens when you arrive to the human camp with the orcs smelling your ass....well, I still remember the orgasm of cleaning all this dead bodies pockets and finding powerful weapons and items, being very weak character at the very beginning of the game.

I play real role playing with my friends, and dude, I can assure you this is the most similar to that I've seen...
