serpantino: The Syberia games are both good and similar in ways if you want to delve into a different one before you go onto Dreamfall, you might be best waiting for GOG to get it as the DRM is apparently a bit naff in Dreamfall.
About every other post is going to recommend Syberia, you might as well play them and then ask again. It's like asking what the best RPG is when you haven't played Planescape, everyone will tell you to play it first:)
if you are looking for adventure games you will find some good ones on gog already mentioned here but there is lot on steam too check it out these

i always recommend this list to those starting to get interested in adventure games cause they dont involve too much pixel hunting and complex story hence i cannot recommend the broken sword series or syberia for that matter hope this helps you out
Sanitarium
Gray Matter
Amnesia, Whispered World and Sam and Max 3 were some good ones from last year =D
Normality. Or The Neverhood.
Try the freebies here on GOG.com for a start. Beneath a Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress and Teen Agent are all free here.

Beneath A Steel Sky is one of the best adventure games ever. Syberia shouldn't even be considered in the same range, since the only reason that one became so popular is that it came out during an adventure game drought. Had it been released alongside the classics, it would be only remembered as a mediocre game with a decent story and atmosphere. There are dozens of games you should play before that one. Syberia should be saved for when you don't really have any other games to play.

It's not a bad game, but it's not nearly as good as the really really good ones, which there are many of.
Culpa Innata is an adventure I've been playing lately. Great atmosphere, though the game has some flaws. It does remind me a bit of The Longest Journey.

Dracula Origin is also pretty good point and click adventure game. It has some pretty solid puzzles.
If you can stand "mazes infinite", then Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster is for you.

Dracula Origin is pretty linear game, with no real mazes in it. Nothing like Frankenstein.
Thanks for all the choices hehe. I finally decided to buy beyond good and evil on direct 2 drive since I had some store credit. But those lucasart adventure games seems really good. Especially Grim Fandango, but I cant seem to get it anywhere?!?!?!?
IF I'M LOOKING FOR ENTERTAINMENT, I GO TO GOG.COM AND DOWNLOAD BENEATH A STEEL SKY. IT'S MADE FROM THE LAST 10 BEAVERS IN THE WORLD.

Some of us are speculating they could come to GOG soon but I wouldn't get my hopes up yet. Only the press conference tomorrow will tell if there's any truth to it. If you're looking for some shorter and free adventures to play in the meantime, this is a good place for browsing:

Adventure Game Studio - Games' Main Page

These are all indie / amateur productions but there are some real gems among them.

Other than that, I'd have suggested Discworld Noir but it might be hard to get it to run on modern systems. I believe The Whispered World is set in a fantasy world, too, but I haven't played it yet (it's also on Direct 2 Drive).

Just read the review for A Stitch in Time and it sounded excellent. Played the demo and it is VERY Curse of Monkey Island. If you can handle no VO you should google it and play the demo.

It's DRM-free for $15 on their website.
Whispered world does seem good, but I think there's better games that i'd like to play first (like day of the tentacle ect..). I started boyond good and evil and the story seems interesting but I tho9ught it be a bit more *mature*. Maybe thats cause I keep comparing my games to the longest journey hehe.

I'm not familiar with A Stitch in Time but the prequel, What Makes You Tick, is pretty good and free to download on top of it.
