While I'm here, I might as well ask how I'm suppossed to keep the grog in the mugs from melting before I need to use them.

Pick up a bunch of mugs and when it's about to melt use the grog-filled mug with an empty one.
Edit: The quote thing messed up while I was trying to make it less messy...sorry for the inconvenience.

Wishbone: So basically, they've made an updated console version of a classic PC game, and then made a shitty console port instead of a proper PC version.

TheCheese33: I wouldn't call it shitty. It works great for me, but maybe that's because I'm using a 360 controller.

I'd like to state at this point, that the mere existence of the idea of buying a console controller for a console I don't have, in order to better control a point-n-click adventure game on my PC is proof that there is something seriously screwed up in the games industry today!
very odd, certainly
There's a certain pleasure in playing an obvious PC game on a console though
Hmm, I've just seen something that could possibly hint towards the next Lucasarts game to be released or remade. At the giant monkey head on monkey island, there's a bunch of small idols, in the original version one of the idols is clearly Sam & Max but in this remade one it's clearly one of the tentacles from Maniac Mansion / Day Of The Tentacle. I think its purple tentacle because it looks angry.
The game is actually really good. I may have overreacted earlier. The controls aren't that bad once you get used to them same as telltales. I still think you should be able to right click (when not pointing at something to bring up the inventory, the keys are just a tad awkward, or maybe i'm just lazy.
The loom reference is present in the PC version, can't understand why that was left out on the console version.
Oh the loom reference is there, it just lacks the flashing <ADVERTISEMENT> text which I thought made it funnier

I really need to re-read the comments before posting the next day.
I forgot it even did that. does it show up on the old version when you switch it ?
Yeah its there then and most of the other text popups are there (including the death one) but just not that one
here's a video of the gameplay:

I was switching it back and forth myself.
Ha, thats what I love about getting classic games like this that I've virtually memorised on the day of release, my second playthrough has set me at number 48 in the world on the xbox live leaderboards

TheCheese33: You misquoted. I never said that.

You're right - I messed up the quote tags while editing, sorry about that :).

thornton_s: That's how i'll be playing it. I'm buying it simply for the musical score and voice overs.
avatar
Gremmi: Switching back to classic mode removes everything new, voice-overs, score, the lot.

Awww... that's bad news... I was actually ready to buy it, mainly to play it with original graphics AND new music and voices... now, I hesitate...
I also wish it would be released as a boxed version, but, well...
So, haven't had time to check the whole thing, and don't know much about other services like Steam and GOG : is there actually a "safe" place (no drm, no online authentification, etc...) where I can buy it?

xbox marketplace? Steam is fine really, I'd have little hesitation buying from them (and thats only because I doubt my laptop could run the PC version).
The new art is excellent and very true to the concept, I have no idea what the negative nancies are on about. Given the screen resolution, the original art actually looks pretty awful, it was really suited to the CRT monitor days where you got natural antialiasing from the displays being so shitty

Hum, I don't have (and don't want) an XBox, so I think XBox Marketplace would not help me here...
And steam... don't want to start another war about it, but I just don't want to use it, point.

Hum, I kinda see another good point to play the original version on ScummVM instead. It has graphic options that can grantly embelish the original graphics.
I want that game but I'd like to be able to play original graphics with new music and voices, and I can't...
I'd like to buy it in a safe way (or better, as a boxed version), but I can't...
Arr... It's getting more and more frustrating to me...

Hey,
SPOILERS
Does anyone know how to navigate inside the Monkey Head with that head I got from the cannibals? It'll be facing one way, I'll walk a smidge that way, and suddenly it will point a different direction!
END SPOILERS
This game is pretty awesome!
EDIT: Never mind, figured it out.
Man, why are adventure games always so short? Then again, it took me a smidge bit longer than it took me to finish the first episode of Tales of Monkey Island, so maybe splitting it up into several episodes will improve the overall length!
