this is a thread for all the people who have been left behind by the New Year's Eve parties and are spending the "crossing" in solitude

it's not supposed to be sad or anything, I for example have decided willingly to spend the evening at home (last year's party ended horribly so I'm kind of breaking the curse this year :)

I have
- 7 cans of beer
- 1 bottle of mead ("soft" version with 12,5 %)
- The Stanley Parable (freshly bought about an hour ago)
- tons of other games / movies / TV shows I can entertain myself with :)
- tons of snacks that induce thirst ;)

when I'm drunk enough, I might even take out the old keyboard and see if I suck as much as I did when I stopped practicing :o)

this plan is bulletproof!
Getting some pizza delivered and watching a movie or two before tuning into BBC 1 for the last 10 mins of 2013 to watch the countdown. :)
Semi-loner, probably spending the evening with just the wife. And I'm sure we'll crash before midnight unless I get caught-up in another late-night session of Baldur's Gate. What I SHOULD be doing is getting my accounting stuff together for next year. Likely do that garbage tomorrow, instead.
Willingly passed on a friend's party in order to earn holiday pay with an overnight shift at work. Don't know if that counts or not, especially since I'll be seeing many of them for brunch tomorrow morning anyway.
Who has time for parties when there are so many computer games to play?
I'm glad I'm not alone in this :)

the "work" part seems brutal though...
There is a party here downstairs but considering I don't drink I'll be spending the evening by the pc. My copy of Battlefront will be here in a couple of hours and I might take in the new horror DVD I got if it weren't for the fact that all the noise from downstairs might kill the vibe.

I always feel sad on New Years but ultimately it's my doing and complaining about it would be a horrific insult to the people who are alone not by choice.

Good news? They are opening a bottle of Dom tonight and I think I might have a shot of that; yes I'm on the wagon but it's a $300 bottle of champagne! How the hell can anyone pass on that once in a lifetime op?! Classy move? I could take a swig and then gurgle with it! YEAH BABY! :P

You'd be better marinating your genitals in it and chasing some women naked down the street then!

As to the OP, I'm sat in with my parents and missing a mate who died five years ago on New Years, not quite being a loner, but hardly sociable.
Thankfully I'm cooking up some good grub at least.

In 144 inches of snow the only way I'm going to chase anyone is in an AT-AT Walker. :P
My wife got sick, so I'm watching over her. I'm actually fine with this development. Being more or less alone (she's sleeping), not with my wife being sick. My wife being sick sucks.
I am chilling at home, eating mandarin oranges so as to stock on the old vitamin C, and trying to figure out which game I want to play all night since I have tomorrow off :)

Also I am trying to figure out if there's a decent PDF editor with some paint tools in it that will allow me to easily edit large PDFs (approx. 200 MBs large...)
Well, I'm planning on playing a game. I'm pretty much house-bound , but my biggest problem is which game to choose. There have been so many great sales and I've been buying. Like I really needed to add to my unplayed list !?!

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone.

For anything mostly. I just want to clean up some of the aftereffects of scanning (obvious pages, creases, etc).

GIMP or photoshop should do for individual page edits and I think they should be fine for editing pages from PDFs that aren't locked, but if you want to export something like a full 20 page manual... not too sure.
