The first locked thread
So we finally know that this forum is indeed moderated.
So far, self moderating by forum members works and it is a joy to see it happen.
Also personal attacks are quickly apologized for.
I guess that when GOG increases in members, the stupid ones also increase (would be nice to see the second reply to this post containing only the word "first" with some explanation points and the third being the word "fail" also accompanied by a luxurious amount of explanation points)
So what I'm saying is, so far intervention by moderators isn't needed, but would probably change in the near future.
What are your opinions on this?

Opinions? Sometimes, I think moderators shoult be more strict... And then I write something stupid :D

You is wrong, that was not the first locked thread. The first one was when UK_John was bitching about the Arx Fatalis patch. Look it up.
Anyway, I don't mind. GOGs are a small niche in the industry, and the majority of gamers are stupid consolfags in their teens who think they're TUFF online but they yelp when their mom calls them for dinner... (totally called someone out on the Bungie forums... wait, they all are)

That's right! But in retrospective, that thread was awesome! :D
What, this one?
I think the community is doing a grand job of moderating itself, to be honest. I think it helps a lot that the average age of GOG users is somewhat higher than on most other forums.

The first sign you're spending too much time on the forums is when you start correcting others about things that happened months ago.

I'm not. We're discussing forum moderation, and I just called on the moderators ;-)

Good point.
I forgot the other locked thread.
But anyways.
Cooee moderators, please introduce yourself and tell something about your opinions on the self moderating and where you draw the line.
So what I'm saying is, so far intervention by moderators isn't needed, but would probably change in the near future.
They are already needed really, especially when people get a little too heated and start insulting each other.
But really, we don't have any. All we have are the GOG guys and gals who are limited to being around within their time zone only. Certainly as this service grows, there will be a need for other people to help out over a variety of time zones.

I wouldn't call our forums moderated... Community moderated, yes. While the GOG.com team has the power to moderate the forum, it happens on very rare occasions. Our plan plan from the very beginning was to allow community to moderate itself and we're delighted to see it working so well now :).
For us the moderation functionality is only an additional tool that allows us react if the forums were - for example - intentionally flooded our some offensive stuff would be posted.
PS: No, we haven't introduced any moderators / community representatives / etc to moderate the forum. If you see a locked topic, an edited message (to make sticky it for example) or any blue post it's always a team member, that's working on some aspect of GOG.com :).
In general, we browse the forums whenever we can, often outside of the working hours, because for us it's a great place to get first-hand feedback and read some discussions.

based on a few recent posts i've seen, it might be useful to have some form of "report post" button.
Or should we all just be voting spammy/personal attack posts down.
If a post is voted down by lots of people does it get flagged to you guys to check it out?
(tbh, i'm not really sure what effect voting up/down actually has???)
