Okay, well...You see, I'm a VERY nice big brother and allow both of my little bros to play on my computer since they like to play Wizards101 together. Well...one day my middle brother was looking through a file that I used to store my profile information and passwords, and the little bastard deleted it. Thankfully, I had installed LastPass on my browser and remembered most of them by heart, but the little bastard is a snoop, and I have a question. Does anyone here know of a free lockbox-like software that I can use to store my...'special interest' files? And NO, it is NOT PORN.

It's not porn, it's just the credit card numbers you have saved to your PC to purchase said porn :P
I'd just set up the PC to be locked so he can only use it when you are around, since it sounds like you only play together on the PC. Just password lock Windows, or BIOS lock it.

Actually one of the files has my debit card information since numbers fuck with mind, but I rather use a program that he isn't familiar with.
Store the files in a password-protected archive?
Create a restricted user account for him?
Or, if it's only text, KeePass is pretty good.

Thanks for the help guys, but I found a program shortly after my last post.
Two programs that may suit your needs that I'd highly recommend:
Truecrypt
Password Safe
I find it easier just to store any such sensitive information on a removable USB drive which I can then lock away -- that way, there's no worries of anything being lost if something fucks up the encryption. And I've seen that happen with someone who was on working on a confidential translation. Their system fucked up and they lost the file completely. Putting them several week behind in their work (as well as costing them a lot of money due to a rather upset client).

This is more a case of having good backups :). It's easier to lose usb sticks than a laptop.
Different user accounts sound like the best option, that way they can't screw up any of your settings either.
That or find a cheapo pc specifically for them

Looking at all the lost laptops from the UK government and several armed forces the world over, I'd beg to differ =)

I meant smart users :p
I take it you've got separate accounts with his having a lot less in the way of privileges?
I'll second Keypass as a means of keeping your passwords safe. You can easily put the file onto any USB drive or even SD card you have and keep it safe that way.
Truecrypt is easy, portable, secure, etc..
It has loads of industrial level double-blind security functions... but the default settings work fine. I don't use it for anything dodgy like you though!
Scratch that, it was a trial. And yes, since he did that he has his own account, but the little ass will get on when I leave my defrag tool running on my file. I'll test out the Truecrypt one now.

I don't see truecrypt in the Free Software List. *coughhintcough*
