Okay... she's a very attractive girl. That makes sense. So why not just have a page with a few pictures of her for guys who need to regularly see a few pictures of a girl who looks like Lisa Foiles?

Her Escapist web series, Top Five With Lisa Foiles, comes each week to count down the top five somethings seemingly related to video games according to... to... well, that raises a good question. According to who? Are these lists created by Lisa? If so, what are her credentials? Does she have a staff? What are their credentials?

Sure. She's pretty. And I'm happy to believe she's a real geek. I'm not getting into that misogynist "not a real geek-girl" bullshit. But, I have seen nothing to indicate that she's talented, funny, insightful, or has an opinion with any authority behind it that I should listen to and consider.

I know... I'm complaining about the Escapist video where a hot red head in shorts tells lame jokes and recites a list of the top five things no one ever thought there needed to be a list of... so yeah... clearly I have some time in my day that could have been better filled... but still... why does this web series exist?
It's not surprising. It's what (some) people want. See Fox News and the line of attractive blonde anchors.

edit: I'm sure they're all talented.

My god, someone get that bitch a sandwich, she's too skinny! Right now there is are anorexics the world over looking at her picture and thinking, "How does she do it?"
Didn't heard of her until now, checked one or two videos .... and as all the things I have seen from the escapist (I am not a fellow spectator of their work), it's too much relying on 'false seriousness' and quick speech to spring a laugh. I really don't find any of this appealling or entertaining to be honnest, just tiresome and not informative.

But that may be due to my frenchiness and the effort I have to deploy to catch what they say.

Who?
You do realize that's not an official ranking you need to abide by, right? She doesn't need any credentials, she's just listing her opinions and trying to be amusing while she does it, which is partly the reason for the off the wall topics.

I agree. Also TotalBiscuit, what are his credentials? Jesse Cox, what credentials does he have? Wowcrendor, what does he know? Husky, where are his credentials?

How dare anyone put anything on the internet about games without first putting up a CV, particularly a decent looking woman!!! If I don't think a person is talented, funny or insightful, that person should leave the internet immediately (or just be quiet and let me look at pictures of them)!
I agree, her videos are really dumb. Its unfortunate too because if you read some of her writing on video game culture she usually has a different perspective thats interesting to read.
...I feel like a tool knowing that she was at one point a child star on Nickelodeon in the early 2000's thanks to watching that stuff then.
Girls don't really like video games, they just say they do so they can get close to us and give us cooties... IT'S A CONSPIRACY !
Who is Lisa Foiles?
Uhm, I never heard of her but I also rarely read/watch Escapist. "Why does this web series exist?" Dunno. I asked same question when I saw Angry Joe's video reviews where he dedicates 5 minutes to be angry about colour of in-game wall or something. Or when I watched a local game mag on TV filled with video samples of games (hello, duplicated YouTube) followed by crappy jokes about butts and random pearls of wisdom about games ("We are sure that Halo 5 will be balls- tearing 11/10!").

I guess because there are some people who watch it.

None of those are being deliberately marketed based on implicit sex appeal; as HoneyBakedHam indicated a large part of the point of female internet personalities is that they are (allegedly) attractive women first and gamers (or whatever) second.

Case in point, I was unfamiliar with this Lisa Foiles, and it just so happens that the first image result is of her doing a generically sexy pose in a Lara Croft outfit.
