Kristian: FYI: Life sucks and it is not going to improve.
as cliche that is.... Not with that attitude. Whining never helps. life can improve but its only up to you. People from way worse situation are capable of improving their life.
No effort on your part is going to help things.
excuse. always with excuses. I know that they are easy. I still make them to myself. didn't get the job, didn't meet a girl. always blame the unfairness of life. but i know its bullshit. it's always my fault. didn't work hard enough, made mistakes. Didn't put enough effort.
No amount of applications will get you a job. Effort = worthless.
Then move! Move to London which does have a lot of job. come to Sydney. Thousands of job possibilities. Go to Cambodia and teach english (they pay fairly well and costs of living are nonexistent) thats what my Scottish friend did after a year on working visa in Australia.
Luck and timing are everything. Nobody has ever succeeded at anything due to anything but luck.
no man. Luck helps. but only hard work ever leads to success. NOBODY every succeeds on luck. it had never happened. Luck contributes to the success but whats luck or bad luck is up to the person. with hard work and effort a situation can be turned to ones advantage and then from perspective of time you will see that situation as luck.

Where two outcomes are possible a good one and a bad one the bad one always happens. No exceptions.
only if you choose the bad situation. only if you allow the bad situation to be possible in first place.
because if you can set up yourself in a way where you profit from good and bad situation (whether financially, socially or spiritually) the you progress forward even if that bad situation takes place.

excuse after excuse. if you make them of course you will be having bad luck. of course you won't succeed. one must sit down and take a reign over the life, analyze what mistakes one had done and what are the ways to improve oneself in order to succeed.

monkeydelarge: You can take advantage of luck and timing by doing absolutely nothing at all. Everything depends on your destiny. Our ancestors a long time ago knew this(ancient Romans, ancient Greeks etc)... The Vikings knew this too. That is why their warriors were fearless. Sadly. since the dark ages, humanity has become very ignorant... I blame Christianity... Think of it this way.... We are all actors in a movie... The movie has already been released on fucking DVD... The DVD is playing....
there is no such thing as destiny. there is no path set for our selves by some higher beings. we are responsible for our own actions and our own situation. life is not a movie, or a book. its not written in advance. belief in destiny is escapism from responsibilities and consequences. it's just fear of not being in control.

Death's a relief believe me! no more pain no more BS and floating in a big ball of loving calmness! and your body feels hollow! because you are not in it anymore!

Nobody knows that, maybe it is maybe it's not. One thing is for sure, death is the only thing fair in this whole world, like Svetlana Alexievich saids:

"Death is the fairest thing in the world. No one's ever gotten out of it. The earth takes everyone - the kind, the cruel, the sinners. Aside from that, there's no fairness on earth.”

Thanks for posting that link. I've heard Nick talk before and watching that clip really helps to put things in perspective. That is where "good" and "bad" come into play in life...our perspective or interpretation of events. Some of the most challenging life experiences that I have been through I often call "bad" but they have helped to create the me that exists in this moment and have led to what I would call "good" things happening.

This short story from Dan Millman's Way of the Peaceful Warrior really exemplified this concept to me:

An old man and his son worked a small farm, with only one horse to pull the plow. One day, the horse ran away.

“How terrible,” sympathized the neighbors. “What bad luck.”

“Who knows whether it is bad luck or good luck,” the farmer replied.

A week later, the horse returned from the mountains, leading five wild mares into the barn.

“What wonderful luck!” said the neighbors.

“Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?” answered the old man.

The next day, the son, trying to tame one of the horses, fell and broke his leg.

“How terrible. What bad luck!”

“Bad luck? Good luck?”

The army came to all the farms to take the young men for war, but the farmer’s son was of no use to them, so he was spared.

“Good? Bad?”

Edit: fine GOG.com don't let me use the tag for italics for the story :P
