Kristian: FYI: Life sucks and it is not going to improve. Ever. No effort on your part is going to help things. No amount of applications will get you a job. Effort = worthless. Luck and timing are everything. Nobody has ever succeeded at anything due to anything but luck. Get used to it :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Where two outcomes are possible a good one and a bad one the bad one always happens. No exceptions.
Totally disagreeing with you man. Ok some luck (although I don't believe in luck but being a persistent mofo by working hard) is needed and random events do happen but you got to ask yourself why were you there at the right time and right place? If you just sit home and say life sucks even those random events won't happen to you.

My advice is (if you are not trolling) is to do some sports or outdoor activities. Enjoy this summer by doing some jogging and lifting some weights. It will BOOST your self confidence believe me. Start by listening to this.

trentonlf: Life is what you make of it.
This is such a lie. Do you mean that people who suffer due to their environment are the creators of their misfortune? Success and happiness is by far a greater illusion than pain and suffering ever is. The best part about success is that it breeds arrogance.
My favourite attitude coming from successful, happy (lucky) people saying "if you believe in yourself and work hard everything works out.." My answer is this scene:
All it takes is a little push...

I forgot. Just curious: did you lose a job opportunity given that you mention effort?

I'm a pessimistic cynic but there's one advise that I find awesome:
adapt. Do NOT send another resume or change some words on it. You need to attack the whole "I need an income" in an entirely different perspective and if that fails, try another perspective.

LOL, life is totally what you make of it. You might not always be able to control your circumstances but you are in control of how you deal with them. Success does not breed arrogance, ignorance breeds arrogance. You want to go through life believing you have to be depressed or unhappy because of some circumstance happening then that's up to you. Me, no matter what happens, I will choose to look on the positive side. Have I experienced tragedy and heart break, absolutely. Have I made it a focal point of my life, absolutely not. Life is to short and precious to go through it in misery. I choose everyday to better myself and try to have a positive outlook for those around me. Circumstances might turn against me, but that does not mean I am going to turn against what I believe. And what I believe is being positive, and that is what I make out of it.
I also like to kick hobos and tell them "get a life, lol". Also, all these long faces at the hospital, come on, it's just death, guys, it'll happen to everyone.

Tsk, people, sometimes, I swear.

When the applications don't suffice the problem lies elsewhere and almost every problem can be solved with effort. And if nothing makes you happy, maybe it's not because nothing good happens but because you have trouble appreciating the good things for what they are or because you have a bad definition of "good things". And yes, good things can happen while being almost perfectly passive and then it does come down to luck but acting sure as hell increases the odds.

You misunderstood my entire point. If you have the option to try a different way then that means you're not in the position I'm talking about. Get back to this thread once you lose that "I'm a positive person!"-attitude that makes it possible for you to deal with hardship and you will know what I mean.

And how exactly does ignorance breed arrogance? What I meant was that when you're are successful due to your belief that you're the source of it you will want more of it and you become arrogant.

Define success please. And I do hope you don't relate success with fortune. These days everyone thinks that making 1 million dollars, having multiple partners to have sex with, having the latest Apple products is being successful. I know a lot of homeless people in my town that consider themselves happy with their situation. Some of them say that they do enjoy their life to the fullest. And off course your environment plays a big role but if you look at today's richest people (if you conciser success = fame = fortune) then you'll see that most of them started from zero. And since I don't believe in luck, God or any higher power, then you are the only one who has to believe in yourself. Sitting around and waiting for a push is lying to yourself.

To me success is being happy with what you have and what you do with your life. And I think I am pretty successful, although no one knows me and don't have millions and take the bus/bike to get around, I do have a nice and warm house, have access to hygiene product, can provide myself with nice meal 3 times a day, and have a loving family.

Most people these day look at Hollywood actors and famous people especially most Americans that are obsessed by them and want to achieve that level of success. But why always look at the 1% extreme success and not looking at the other 99%?

One very interesting point during my philosophy course was the interaction between Alexander the Great and Diogenes. And it goes something like this: Once, while Diogenes was sitting in the sun, Alexander the Great was standing by, and said to him, "Ask any favor you choose of me." And Diogenes replied, "Cease to shade me from the sun."

And I'm sorry but unless you are homeless, have cancer but no money to cure yourself or are dying because of hunger then you don't know how hard life is. There are billion other people who want to stand in our shoes and consider us naggers for not being happy with not worrying about basic human needs like food and warm cloths.

Haha. Brilliant stuff.

That hangover makes me atleast find the problems to come back twice as hard.
It's like my life sucks and i am drinking way too much, beside a headache makes you focus on your head and mind very much thus also the problems.

But could be different for others.

Multiple partners does help though.

Let's see, I grew up in an abusive household (physically and mentally) with no escape. I held my fathers hand as he died with no chance of saving him. Just these two situations alone are terrible things to go through that I would not wish on anyone. Did I take the negative path of self destruction from them, no. I chose to look on the positive aspects in and around my life. So I can assure you that no matter what happens I will always have the "I'm a positive person" attitude.
