Okay, first up I have to say that yes, I am playing and liking a facebook game. Sue me.

Anyway, the game in question is a game where you play as a footballer and you control his career. Sure it's not really in-depth or anything, but it is new and fresh. I know only one similar game, new star soccer. But are there any else?

What about life simulation games, you know where you control a character and you choose his/her way through life, family, work and all that? The obvious game here would be sims, but what about others, perhaps a bit different games?

And why aren't there more games where you control a player's career? Be a pro and similar modes in Fifa/PES are okay-ish, but they lack the social aspect. You know, the -life- of the player.

If you know any games that fit the criteria and are good, please let me know.

And the facebook game? It's called I am Playr.

(It really is called playr, it's not a typo)

There is this casual game Life Quest, sold around sites like gamehouse. Everything is really cliché and generic, you pick a bad job, manage your tiredness and frustration, try to squeeze out enough money and time for a bit of education to get a better job, repeat. Buy things for your home, make friends and spend time with them... The whole thing could probably have been a board game without much change. Quite shallow but fun for an evening or two.

tinyE: GTA! :D
Well, I guess this kinda fits, but...
The Crusader Kings series make you a Kings/Dukes/Counts "manager" during middle ages, the whole dynasty.
I am not sure that it was what you wanted, but ... ;-)

I find life management is hard enough in its real form, the idea of wasting time on doing it virtually does not sound very appealing to me ... But I guess this is what you're looking for?

Kudos 2

EDIT: See, I can't even manage to post before getting ninja'd. :D

And then there are also those princess sims like Princess Maker 2 and the one here on GOG that I can't remember the name of right now ... EDIT: Long Live the Queen it was!

Or Depression Quest. :P

And what about Cart Life and Papers, Please? Not to forget, a classic in the genre! :)

Cart Life

It's kind of depressing from time to time, but it was an interesting experience.
Sounds like the 'Footballer of the Year' games on C64 from forever ago, I also thought of Alter Ego from the same vintage...

It's shorter scale, but Long Live the Queen.
Well, my first idea was the Sims, which is probably the only "real" life simulator I know of. It's actually pretty good, if you treat it like a game and less like "create your own perfect life". I played Sims 1-3 A LOT and I actually created custom content for Sims 2, so that's how much I was into that game, and it can be pretty complex. If you want to get into Sims 3, I would say MOD THE SH*T OUT OF IT, because some parts of the game are just really crappy without mods...

Also if it's not about an individual but just managing the life of a village, play Banished. But maybe that's not what you're looking for. I just really like it. :P

Also, Alter Ego and Long Live The Queen; was both already mentioned here though.

Edit: I know Sims was already mentioned, but I was trying to guess why it somehow doesn't seem to count. It's just a game series I hold close to my heart, despite the major screw-ups. :P

Just in case that you don't know, there's a remake (browser game) of Alter Ego which is quite good:

Not so good for me that I remembered it. I ended up playing it for an hour (died in my childhood, because somebody kidnapped and killed me) while I had in fact some much more important things to do.
