In any case I will say it's an issue, though the issue comes with how the law works or is presumed to work, as digital licensing is still a very difficult topic of debate.

These are very tricky issues and I'm not one to tell anyone else what to do. But I would like if people would consider the side of the devs and the long-term effects of sharing "extra" keys before doing it. Giving keys to someone who wasn't going to buy the game anyway isn't probably going to be harmful to anyone. Giving keys to someone to introduce them to a new genre or series might even be a good deal to everyone. But playing the DRM-free version youself, and giving away the keys to someone who could have bought the game with their own money...?

It's possible this kind of practice could have an effect on how willing game devs will be to make bundles, or give away both a DRM-free version and keys, so it's not just an issue of what's good for game devs.

I am really done discussing this topic with the community, we have done so in length before. I have just done what I should have done to start with - asked for gog's policy. A lot of aggravation would have been bypassed if I had done so.

To address a few point which seemed to cause confusion: I was not even aware of it.

Piracy is your logical jump, I am not talking about piracy at all here. (at least a pirate is honest about what he do)

It has everything to do with gog - this is their private forum. it is for this reason you do not find links to for example abandonware sites here (gog asks us kindly to not do so). It is their prerogative what is and what is not accepted here.

I respect the wishes of Humble Bundle and Indie Royale and don't give away separate keys, nor try to win separate keys if I assume they come from these bundles. However I still get annoyed when I buy a bundle and already have many of the games, and I'm not allowed to give the spares. I also occasionally bought Groupee bundles specifically because I could give keys from them.

Sometimes it's clear, sometimes it's not. It's often easy to guess, given that many time games are given away while a bundle is running or shortly thereafter. Though I assume that if this was policed then some people would simply switch to lying about the origin of the codes or simply not making it clear.

This is true. They started giving individual keys EXACTLY because people want to share them. They are aware of that, they are actually are making money on this. Many people wouldn't buy HIB if it wasn't for separate keys.

They are all officialy "We don't approve this", but they are aware of the procedure, they are doing nothing to prevent that and they are silently even supporting that.

Most sites will not only moderate posts for doing this, they will ban accounts for repeat offenders.

GOG is trying to convince the world that its safe to let their games be sold here because people will buy the games rather than pirate them... but when the forums are filled with illegal game codes, how does one make that sale to the other companies?

I would have no problems, and even encourage, GOG to take a more firm stance against this. As they have said twice now... they see their competitors as pirates... So, they are letting their competitors post free codes on their own site.
