Getting a guild is easy, getting in the right kind of guild seems to be hard for me. Most guilds I've joined are either:
- largely inactive, they'll sometimes have 1 or 2 players on when I'm around and about 6 players (out of about 90) total that are still playing GW
- for too anally competitive. I'm close to the "Leroy Jenkins" type of player but I don't mind checking skills and gear making sure I have the right set-up for the job I'm gonna do. However I don't like to spend 142 mins doing that (thats how long it had taken once to go from "hey, lets have a guild battle!!" to actually fighting one)
- lifeless and quiet. Lots of players are on but nobody ever talks except for a few of us then the guild gets really boring when those chatty ones decide to leave.
I have 20 chars, 1 of each profession for both pve and pvp, and they are all of various progress through the game. I'm just looking for an active guild, I dont care if they're all pros or newbs, I'd prefer to play with some people and not random strangers or heroes all the time.

Well I finally picked this up via the in-game store (was surprised it actually let me). So I know how the complete experience I guess as it also has the Eye of the North expansion. It also worked out cheaper to get this way than via the Steam sale so I'm glad I waited.
Now I just need to find time to really play it ¬_¬.

Have you played any of the Guild Wars titles yet? The PvE missions alone will occupy you for dozens of hours. Time you must find, sir.

Not really. I'm still in the pre-searing Ascalon area or whatever it's called. Still trying to decide on what type of character to play too. Although I've started with a ranger (no second class yet) for now.

Some people absolutely adore pre-searing Ascalon and attempt to remain there as long as possible.

Have you seen the Guild Wars 2 footage? ArenaNet has extremely talented designers. Kryta, in the original Guild Wars campaign, is gorgeous. I remember stepping out of the snowy mountains into that...

Not yet no. But I'll have to check it out. To be honest, I wasn't the least bit interested in Guild Wars until this topic and I found it wasn't just PVP -- which is what I always thought it was.

It's all true, but do you think guild you could find here will be better than guild found in-game?
