I was watching a trailer on Steam for a new rpg called Legends of Dawn. At the end of the trailer, there is a screen saying "Available now" and listing several game sellers, including GoG.com. However, I don't see the game for sale here. Is this an upcoming release?
It got released on Steam, lots of people having problems playing it (let along launch it).
And as a backhanded slap to Kickstarter's, the DRM free version is yet to be released to our dismay. Yes im a backer. Everyone who backed it supposedly gets steamkey for free regardless whether we chose DRM free option or not...im yet to use my steamkey.Im still waiting for the drm free version.
Is it turn-based, RTWP or action?
Ripped from Steam forums :
"Legends of Dawn STEAMED PASSION
Unbelievable experience! Today was a whirlwind experience where we unfortunately made a series of moves that have angered Kickstarter backers, but also gave us the great success of the first two days of the sale that exceeded our expectations.

The passion and heat on Steam forum are rarely seen. Every day thousands of new users join Legends Of Dawn and it's exciting to follow up.
There are a lot of gamers busy playing and enjoying the game and those who have problems are very vocal, which is perfectly fine when it help us find and fix problems.
To those who expressed doubts or worries if we'll support our customers and improve the game the answer is clear - Yes we will, it's all we will do and will continue to do.

We'll address most important issues ASAP and then add desired features to the wish list.

LoD community is rapidly growing and we are monitoring what you are saying and we try to read everything.
Let's address a few implemented improvements:

We have uploaded another patch to Steam server (v1.02). Regarding players getting stuck - we have added Regenerate action to Options -> Controls panel. Now you can configure a key that teleports you to the last respawn point. We have also fixed small translation bug in non-English languages.

The autosave feature is also implemented. You can choose a time interval for auto-saving (never, 10 minutes, 20 minutes or 30 minutes). Autosaved game always takes one slot in the save game list and new autosaves are overwritten over the old one.

We have also implemented a QuickSave action. A large number of players requested this feature so that they do not have to activate Options -> Save Game panel each time they want to save the game. QuickSave simply creates new save game called QuickSave each time you press the QuickSave key. You can bind this action to any key, just as you do with other actions.

Speaking of keys - we fixed two bugs regarding key configuration. The first bug was that custom key bindings did not work until player activated the Options panel for the first time. The second bug was that camera rotations using keys did not work. Both of these should work fine now.

Also fixed is sliding after manual respawn if player pressed respawn key while moving around.

Brown screen bug - for some reason, some configurations seem not to have NVidia physics system software or its latest version. Legends of Dawn uses NVidia PhysX to move all game objects. If PhysX libraries are not installed, game will start with black background. We are still investigating why this bug happens since PhysX should be installed with the game. In the meantime you can install the PhysX directly from NViadia site at

http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12.0613-driver.html

Don't forget to reboot your computer.

Next on our list are few assignments regarding movement. We plan to implement left+right mouse key movement forward, and then movement using point'n'click method - that player's character will move by clicking on the location he/she wishes to go. The camera will be improved too.

Some PC configurations don't perform well although in many cases weaker configurations when set up properly will work well. Streaming engine sits heavily on your computer resources so if the configuration is bloated or weak you'll experience low FPS. We'll continue to optimize the engine.

Huge thanks to all who try to offer information in constructive and inspired way. Big thanks also to our friend at Humble store and we are very sorry for every inconvenience you stumbled upon in trying to acquire your keys.

Humble Bundle is handling you Steam keys and they will provide with access to DRM Free version as soon as they set it up (we already sent them the master). Later they will deliver other digital goodies as we prepare them. Unfortunately some PayPal and KS backers still did not get keys so let 's go through steps once again:

a) go to the https://www.humblebundle.com/store/keyresender

b) enter EXACTLY THE SAME email you backed with on Kickstarter or exact email used to donate with Paypal

c) in case you have problems please contact HumbleBundle support http://support.humblebundle.com/

d) if you still have problems contact us directly at support@dreamatrix.net

As you possibly noticed, Steam has $15.99 one week promotional price for LOD, after that it will be 19.99. We thought that $15 promotional price for digital download for Kickstarter backers is appropriate. However publishers consistently suggested lower than planned retail price and we listened. In the light of new circumstances we would like to give some additional reward to our backers who helped us so much. We are still thinking what exactly that will be, but it will come in a form of additional download. Thank you once again for your help!

Help us improve the game.

a) If you stumble upon critical bug that wasn't already mentioned several times please send us the log file which can be found typically (but not necessarily) C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Legends of Dawn\logs\game_lod.htm or for non steam version C:\Program Files\Dreamatrix\Legends of Dawn\logs\game_lod.htm Note that every new start overwrites the previous log. You can send log files to support@dreamatrix.net

b) If you have suggestion that wasn't well covered before, start a new thread with appropriate name and let's see how others feel about your suggestion

c) Let us know also what you like – it’s inspiring and it shows us where we hit the right direction

Thanks for helping and for being passionate about what you want in and from Legends of Dawn

It's DRM-free on GamersGate. The developers said in several places that they are currently awaiting GOG's approval, but I think it will be some time coming (if at all), given all the technical problems reported. After what happened with the latest Eador, I think GOG is going to be a little more cautious in this case. I do hope the game gets fixed and it comes here, though.
General impressions seems to be that the game is really bad.

Which makes me wonder why there is still isn't a direct download (via Humble store) for backers?.

According to the update you quoted, it looks like it's on the way:
"Humble Bundle is handling you Steam keys and they will provide with access to DRM Free version as soon as they set it up (we already sent them the master). Later they will deliver other digital goodies as we prepare them."
Edit: Don't know much about the Humble crew's working hours, given it's midnight here and the weekend.

It should have been made available at launch same time as on steam. Which makes me wonder if they had Steam integration early on - there were comments early on about problems with the game working initially with steamcode or some crap like that, which seems strange since we have to wait for the drm free copy.
The first Kickstarter game I've backed that has been released is ... not instilling confidence so far. Whether these are first-day troubles that will be sorted out, or the game is just fundamentally bad, is yet to be determined ...

I think there should be different expectations for random stuff like this and a big star-backed project like Wasteland 2, for example.

That's true up to a point, but this game is not living up even to low expectations. I haven't played it much but so far it seems a pretty bad generic diablo-like (with awful controls), and if you enjoy games like that, Path of Exile or Torchlight 2 are way better.

That being said, this is the second project I backed that was released, the first (Expeditions: Conquistador) was actually a very pleasant surprise for me, so since I didn't expect more than a few good games out of the 16 I've backed, I'm pretty happy with my KS investments so far.

I can't speak to this game specifically, I am just noticing a lot of kickstarter regret across the board that seems to be rooted in expecting way too much from a $200,000 game budget, or something similar.

I'm not saying it's okay to release an unfinished product but this is from a very small indie company and it does seem to be a passion project for them so I'm sure the bugs will get squashed in time. Hell, think about how many AAA games gets released as a buggy mess like New Vegas, Diablo 3, Sim City, Fallout 2, WC Privateer 2 etc. So if the core game is sound (it looks fun) then give it time and hopefully it will be fine.

I guess that's something people seem to forget i guess with rush of excitement of receiving the completed product.
Having said that, from comments 'ive seen, people seem to be saying there has been little or no beta or alpha testing (gameplay complaints aside) and looking back at the time for this KS - the voice acting was only complete around 1-2 months ago alone.I guess ill have to try it myself at this point (for the record i backed this game but wasnt expecting too much - the other kickstarters have pleasantly surprised me - both completed ones and ones yet to be done)
