I write software used by courts. :)

Well, that is not so bad...You could write software used by banks.. That would be morally hazardous :-P
I've gotta say, threads like this can lighten up your day xD
Yes, definitely. GOG.com will legally release DRM-Free Pizza in the near future.
I'm still hoping for them to legally release Powermonger..

Fred_DM: no offense to anyone, but i face-palmed hard at the OP. i can still hear the echo of the sound my hand made when it clashed with my forehead...

oh, and i can't believe anyone would actually consider answering the OP's question in a serious manner. no offense, but...
There are people who have stupid opinions the world over, no matter what nationality :)

And yes, some people might think this comment is rude, but when someone obviously has a stupid opinion or a stupid request, I call it like it is. If it quacks like a duck ..................................

I wonder why she isn't asking if a certain movie theater has the rights to show a particular movie, or Apple the rights to sell downloads of particular music????

Honestly.....the mind boggles.

It might be cliche, but: there's no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers. There's no need to alienate someone who may potentially become a new, valuable member of the community, nor to degrade her because you perceive her to have asked something with an obvious answer.

Nothing wrong with wanting to verify the legality or morality of something. And it just shows how "too good to be true" GOG seems to a lot of people, which is a good thing, I would say.

"Really? So if I catch rails with my hands will I go like a train?"

Or do you mean "There are no stupid questions, there are only stupid people" ;) ?

SimonG: The fact that the site is still operating should be prove enough. Wouldn't you think that maybe Ubi or EA would have done something by now?

Oh, and welcome to 2008!

menchicutlets: Oh yes that should be enough proof, except it isnt for her, god knows why. Just trying to find some page that states it, or from GoG itself so she calms down about it. :P
And why exactly is this your job? Her insecurity is her problem. Perhaps she can learn about it herself. Geez, dude, I hope she makes up for that bit of craziness in other ways, I'd have told her to do her own damned research if my explanation wasn't good enough. Life's too short for people like that...

Um, possibly. Though did not intend that grammar-based saying, as in "questions lack any kind of intelligence, people are the only ones who can be clever or stupid". The stupid question/stupid people adage doesn't mean what I was saying as much, I don't think?

I don't know. :P My point still stands, but I think I've fallen into the second category. ;)

menchicutlets: Also im amused at the person going omg at me using GoG.com instead of GOG.com, in my day we used to not capitalize the little words XD

That's not grammar, that's ontology D: ! Your mind has been poisoned by analytical philosophy... A shame too, since Australia is home to some of the most crazy-awesome thinkers in the world.

I simply disagree with it. There are SO many questions one might ask which would add nothing to cognizance at best, lead into fallacious thinking at worst, be possible only syntactically on average.

Dude, I'm 18, and while this is an area of interest it's hardly my area of study — give me a little slack. :P Still, thanks for making that distinction for me.

Even so: Yes there are pointless questions. That's beside my original point, which was that in this particular instance the question asked strikes me as perfectly reasonable and honestly indicative of conscientiousness on the part of the asker — many wouldn't care whether their method of game-getting was legal or not. All I was addressing was the criticism of the people I quoted in my original message, which struck as unwarranted — for which I used a silly, generalised turn of phrase that I felt applied to my argument. So: you're right, but I stand by my use of the phrase.

I was not expecting this kind of criticism of my post. :P
