Raneman25: Postal and Waxworks are up for grabs to anyone.
avatar
Rohan15: Says you must be 18 or old to purchase for me.

Yeah, it wouldn't let me buy Waxworks until I was 18. I was 17 for Postal 2, since the required age for an M is 17 +.
As for the "porn store", are you talking about Beneath a Steel Sky? I remember a specific part where private parts are on display at a plastic surgeon's office, and how that might be seen as pornography.

chautemoc: Just read this:
"The Polish sex industry held its first legal trade fair in September 1998, attracting businessmen, pornographic film stars, and both male and female participants. Spectators at the Warsaw show will be treated to <...> mock sado-masochistic performances

MOCK? Bunch of wimps, show me the real thing or GTFO!

Weclock: nudity =/= pornography

Raneman25: It is when you are in an ingame porn store.

Stop being a sissypants about stuff like this. It's just a GAME. If you want to jerk off to naked women, go buy a porno.

No, here we have an idiot asking a question that is just completely stupid, so it's only fitting he's one of those people that actually buys porn.

Sick man...
Oh well, off to play the modded version of Star Wars for Mount and Blade. =)
As far as I recall, GOG actually won't sell a game if you're younger than the rated age on the game page. Of course, if you lied about your age, stating you are older than you actually are, that probably won't affect you. But I know I've read a post here before where someone was unable to buy a game and that was the reason.

Well... His title is "Random Troll"... Completely agree, utterly stupid question. GOG isn't a bricks and mortar store, so how is anyone supposed to govern whether people are of the legal age to purchase their products?
Same thing applies to just about every other website out there, be it a porn site, an Amsterdam drug site or, you know, a video game store where you can get sweet imports.
But, that's the beauty of the internet. It should never, NEVER, be regulated. If you think it should, GTFO.

Andy_Panthro: I can't even think of a single occurrence of age ratings being actively enforced.

I were once on a school trip to London, and I couldn't buy any movies without showing my passport (as my social security card from Denmark was not valid...) I was 15 at the time, so yeah at least some stores in the UK enforce them. I was actually quite surprised since in Denmark we tend to forget about them, and certainly do not enforce them, the only exception being porn of course.

In the US, several states have tried implementing laws that exact fines against stores that sell "M" rated games to kids under 18, but I believe all of them have been struck down (so far). Most retailers already have company policies that can get a store employee fired for selling "M" rated games to underage kids, but the enforcement of that policy can be sporadic at best. Then there is also the "Wal*Mart factor" where the largest retailer in the country virtually refuses to sell anything with an "M" rating. Its not exactly enforcement of the ratings system, as much as abuse of the system in an attempt to force their own morality on the country through censorship.
