Oh, I guess starting the download was unnecessary. Ah well.

But yah, it's obnoxious how people whine if something wrong happens with GOG, yet super-corporation Steam gets a free pass.
I installed the free game last night as a safety measure. So, if I uninstall it from my computer, will the game still remain in my inventory?

Yup. Just uninstalled it after having downloaded only 34% of the game and it's still there.
I can confirm that the game is still downloading and the offer is off now :)

good stuff!

grviper: All I did was click "install" in the store to add it to the library. The freebie is over, but the game is still there.
Now to never play it.
I hear that. For whatever reason I made a Steam account to get it knowing full well my backlog of Gog games is large enough, Steam will never see the light of day/

jamyskis: German users should go to the Austrian or British Steam websites (with the ?cc=GB or ?cc=AT trick) to get the uncut version. There's no billing process, so it will work on this seldom occasion.

Too late, seems I got the cut version.
And I still have the game in the library, despite not having it installed earlier.

ktchong: UPDATE: It's over.

Only on Christmas: Just launch Steam, go to the store page and click on "Install Game" to claim it. You may need to install it to own it after Christmas.
Very intelligent move from Valve. Left4dead 2 was almost dead...but I imagine now, the game is very much full of life. No doubt Valve did this because in the future, they plan on releasing a Left4dead 3. :)
I can confirm that you didn't need to download the game, just clicked on "Install Game". A friend of mine who's out of town until next week had to add the game to his account using a web browser from a public computer with no way to download it, and hours after the promo has ended, I can see he still has the game in his Library ^_^

It was? The normal campaign was still pretty active before, even without resorting to manual MP location changes.

Well last time I checked(last week), there were only 3 or 4 games.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people were claiming that "complimentary" meant "temporary". I know Valve often uses this category for the free weekend offers, but those are usually clearly marked "Free Weekend" or similar. "Complimentary" simply means that it was added to your account free of charge.

I registered my old copy of Half-Life to my Steam account and that "complimentary" copy is still there six years later. Free DLC also gets added as being "complimentary".

Be that as it may, I just hate this "Verminderte Gewalt" versions -.-" I mean, come the fuck on, the game is for adults anyway...
Played the single player and seems fun. Tried on some of the higher levels and need to drop it down as is too difficult for my weak skills. Fun game though, I love killing zombies. Unfortunately there's one that spits acid at me that makes it more difficult.
Also, would have been nice to use the silent weapons like the sword, but the game is really hard that way. Not sure if the game is like TWD where if you use a gun they are drawn to you. Computer AI uses guns, so no way of testing that without going online.
All and All it is a great game since it was free.
