Pretty good article on the 12 year Duke Nukem Forever saga.

Heh just finished reading that actually. A great shame that they appear close to finishing the game but it's stagnating. Can't they sell part of the rights for a fee to get it finished, or something?
Assuming that article is accurate, it pretty well confirms my suspicion that the company was killed by arrogance, no business sense and absolutely no idea how to manage a fucking project. A black hole of money for 12 fucking years?
Good riddance to them
Broussard continued. “It’s our time and our money we are spending on the game. So either we’re absolutely stupid and clueless, or we believe in what we are working on.”

Just to be clear: those are not mutually exclusive.

If he had a shred of direction or project management skill then I don't think his ego would have been quite so fatal. As much as we all love to hate Kotick, his ego doesn't stop him from spewing overpriced games like a pica-afflicted dog left to roam free in EB's warehouse. It was more a fatal combination of ego and lethargy.

Nope. Billions of people throughout human history have believed in things very passionately and poured their lives into devotion to these things. Regardless of your outlook, most have been stupid and clueless.

Yeah, me too. It'd be slightly hard to justify, as we make CRM systems for the telecommunications industry, but my boss is pretty cool, so he might go with it :-D
Good read. Really, this just confirms the fact that you HAVE to have realistic businessmen alongside your visionary types or you get a mess like this.

Way to use a period instead of a question mark in the first sentence. Jerks!
