I'll most likely try the game out once I acquire a new PC. My current one is only good for GOGs.

I used to play DOTA quite a bit so I'm interested in trying out this implementation of the game concept sooner or later.
Everybody who want add me my nick is Lopardur (I play almost everyone and I am lvl 30)
only done the tutorial so far, but it certainly shows promise!
Yup, I play it. I've played it for 242 hours according to Steam. Add me if you want (same name as here), though I will admit I'm not the best player out there. :)

ovoon: The game is too addicting. And yea, you can use real money to buy skins for your character, just to look cool and support the company. Thats about it.

KavazovAngel: Great. So there are no disadvantages? Like, there are no things like buying new heroes, new items? Right?

(I read somewhere that the game might have microstransactions, whats why I'm asking before I make an account.)
It does but think about it like what TF2 has now. You can get the items you want given enough time and effort or can just go and buy them while some of the cosmetic crap like recolors or different themed skins that give no real advantage can be bought. Only difference is you get a set amount of points per match (more for winning) and those points are spent on the characters and runes.
One if the main concerns of Riot (the developer) when creating this business model was to insure a paying player had no in game advantage over a non paying one.
The way they achieved is by using to different kinds of currency's:

IP or Influence Points and RP or Riot Points

Influence Points -IP's are gained simply by playing , each time you win or lose a match you gain a certain amout of IP with a a nice bonus for the 1st win of the day.
You can spend your IP's for unlocking new champions to use or to buy Runes to modify and strengthen some of your stats, now you can only buy Runes with IP
Once you unlock a champ or rune it's yours! non of that limited time BS some games implant.

Riot Points - RP are the "Micro transaction" part of the game , you can use RP to either instantly unlock a champion, buy new skins and models for the champions you own and if you want buy IP and XP boost.

Personally I've been playing the game from the early closed beta (about 18 months) and got to say that I've spent around $200 on the game after it launched.
Just love supporting Riot , an amazing developer with incredible relationship with it's community
But it's very common to find player who haven't spent a dime on the game and enjoying it just as much as I do!

At like $50 here, great developer but the community leaves a lot to be desired. It is more tame then HoN but still way too elitist for their own good.
Used to have an amazing community during the closed beta but when the game went live the swarm of Dota playing teen hit ...
Just try to get a bunch of guys you like playing with and do premades!
after a couple of practice matches i can safely say i like it, but i suck lol (despite winning both)
Sorry for the necromancy, but I figured that I could reuse the thread instead of creating my own (and this seemed the newest with more than one post).

Is there anybody still playing and if that's the case, what time can one see you on-line and on which server?

I'm Puhuk on EU-West usually somewhere between 9:00 to 17:00 CET and looking for company.
