We'll be removing a number of games from the GOG.com catalog - here's your last call to get them with a special discount!

Today, we're here to honor the promise we gave you to announce ahead of time whenever we're taking a game down from sales. We wanted to give you one last chance to get the titles we're delisting with a considerable discount, and the partners involved agreed. There are 35 games on that list and you can get them all for up to 80% off until Tuesday, September 2, at 3:59AM GMT. Any title you buy will remain in your collection even after it's removed from our catalog, so you can always download and re-download the installers and bonus content. Check out the promo page to see which games this concerns.

We're still ironing out a few details. For now, the promo pages, like the one for the Last Chance Special, list all the game prices only in US dollars. But don't freak out: if you chose to use your local currency you will see the prices in local currency in checkout, and you can still finalize the transaction in local currency. We hope to have this issue fixed within the next weeks.

It was reply over reply. No need for such sadness, just PM me to fix ok?

This thread says a lot of some of this community.
First you complained when they wanted to introduce the fair regional pricing, now that you now know that it means that you won't get all the games you want, you complain again.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I prefer how things are now.
Let'em go. They will be back.

karnak1: Fuck the No-Regional Pricing!

I want the games on GOG! Even if I don't have the money to buy them, I'd rather have them here so that other people with the means, can afford them.

And for all those who whine about the Regional Pricing stuff - migrate to Steam or STFU!
Uh, but Steam IS regionally priced... So, migrate you? LOL?

Reever: Oh man :(
This is sad, but who knows, some may find their way back to the GOG catalogue!

So guys, which Guild game should I get? Gathered from another discussion that they are pretty much all the same, as in the same concept without any other connections (IIRC), so which is the best? Or should I just get them all? :D

Grargar: Judas would recommend the first one. Others would recommend The Guild 2 - Renaissance because it contains all the content of the previous Guild 2 games.
Okay, thanks. Others are also welcome to give their recommendations. But I'll probably just go gor The Guild 2 - Renaissance at this point :)

I liked guilds 1 more than i did 2nd.

Trajhenkhetlive: We knew someone wasn't going to be thrilled and a few games would be lost.
Unfortunately this is nearly 5% of the entire catalog. And possibly just the beginning...

SentinelWolf: This thread says a lot of some of this community... regional pricing...
This thread also shows how silly and regional pricing obsessed the community is because these games being removed has nothing to do with regional pricing (which GOG allows and a dozen+ new regional prices today alone). It's instead based on unequal exchange rates in GOG's pricing tiers, per G-Doc.

Thanks because it causes a lot of scrolling when users do that.

Petrell: Isn't there a lack of color or domincance of shades of grey in general? Frontpage is especially ugly. It's like they tried to emulate turd known as Windows 8, especially it's god awfull modern UI. :-(
I would also blame this, except that they actually use colour in places.

O good can you people just not understand that this is not about regional pricing. Regional pricing is here since March and today even more games got regionally priced and nobody is making a fuss about it since everybody just understands that gog can't do anything else - could somebody read the Back to our Roots post finally and not spread misinformation about regional pricing.

Regarding The Guild 2, apparently Renaissance is the only edition you need... the others Guild 2s are redundant and Renaissance just adds new features to similar play.

If the entire issue with these games being pulled is the introduction of region specific currency conversion (ie, unequal exchange rates in GOG's pricing tiers), I'd say to go back to just using USD again until all of GOG.com's current partners agree to a middle ground in which it can be reintroduced - it makes no sense to let go of a large portion of the catalog for something that seems like such a small issue that will only add very little to GOG's bottom line.

Maybe I'm wrong and this will bring in more customers who have avoided the store because of USD-local currency conversion fees.... in the end I really hope this works out for the site. This just makes me more worried for the future of GOG.com than anything. Hopefully there will be a sign of better things to come soon.

As some user have pointed out, it's absurd that the community now complains about loosing games because of the fair price principle. As for me, the answer to this should be simple NOT TO BUY GAMES ANYWHERE ELSE (yes specially Steam and Origin).

The regional price thing is absurd, unfair and should be punished. I could sort of get it when it comes to physical products that need to be shipped and where there are a lot of intermediaries and government regulations on the way, but with digital content it just makes no bloody sense!. Charging more for a digital product depending of which country are you buying from is just a scam, as simple as that. The GOG Community should be happy that GOG didn't jump into that greedy train.

Windows 8/Metro is a flat design. The new GoG.com is not flat, as evident by the shadows/gradients behind elements. This makes a world of difference for the better. However, the new design is less efficient than the old design, and I have to scroll more to see the same amount of content as before. I believe this is a compromise to make the site display better on smaller screens (smartphones). I have not yet viewed GoG.com on a smartphone because I don't have one, but I think it is better to make separate design for small screens and normal screens, instead of lazy compromises that degrade the UI experience for desktop/normal-sized-screen users.
