Lady Lara Croft is an 11th generation Countess. The Croft family was granted the title and rights to Abbingdon, Surrey by King Edward VI in 1547. The Croft Estates are comprised of three separate manor houses, two of which are maintained by the National Trust, and the third is home to Lady Croft.
At the age of nine she survived a plane crash in the Himalayas that took the life of her mother. In perhaps the first story of her prodigious indomitability, she somehow survived a solo ten-day trek across the Himalayan mountains, one of the most hostile environments on the planet. The story goes that when she arrived in Katmandu she went to the nearest bar and made a polite telephone call to her father asking if it would be convenient for him to come and pick her up.

Jill is a former member of the law-enforcement taskforce S.T.A.R.S., the Special Tactics And Rescue Service, who was in charge of rear security and bomb disposal. She was a part of the group’s Alpha Team which was charged with investigating a mysterious mansion during the initial zombie outbreak caused by the Umbrella Corporation, the company that had created the zombie-causing biological weapon known as the T-Virus that was accidentally unleashed on the world.
After surviving the incident at the mansion, Jill left the service of S.T.A.R.S. and focused her attention on escaping from Raccoon City, which had become infested with zombies. She came to be pursued, however, by Nemesis, a biologically engineered creature created by Umbrella that had been sent to kill all surviving S.T.A.R.S. members because of their knowledge regarding the corporation’s activities. Ultimately, Jill succeeded in evading Nemesis and escaped from the city just prior to its destruction along with the mercenary Carlos Oliveira. She subsequently joined a group dedicated to battling the corrupt Umbrella Corporation.

You should add in the aspect of the movies where they are the main character and by whom the actresses which portrayed them: Angelina Jolie Vs. Milla Jovovich. That's my 2 cents.
Sienna Guillory Played Jill Valentine in the movie Mila was "Alice"

Oops, you're right. What was I thinking? Oh well, I guess it's a moot point then. DISREGARD! THERE IS NOTHING TO SEE HERE!
Lara Croft is more about looking sexy while preforming acrobatic stunts than fighting. Yes, she's capable, but Jill has a definite edge on her because:
1. She doesn't screw around as much.
2. Her outfit is MUCH more sensible.
3. She has actual military training.
4. She's taken down many more monstrous creatures than Croft has.
5. IIRC, Jill has access to more and heavier weapons than Croft.
In a head on fight, I'd expect Jill to shoot Croft while she's busy leaping around and jiggling.

Lara can do slowmo aim actions, carry more ammo, climb up things and move faster than a snails pace. My money's on the brit (as long as she's not being played by that jolie freak).
and Samus Aran would kick both their asses.

browncoat1984: and Samus Aran would kick both their asses.
Powered Armor and seeker missiles give her an unfair advantage.
Jill Valentine should be able to take down anything with the horrible voice acting.
Lara can move while shooting. Jill can't. Sounds simple enough to me. :)
Also, Lara's mother didn't die in the plane crash, she met her fate later on. Either that or my recollection of Tomb Raider: Legend is completely erroneous.
this is a good versus match! i would have to say Jill is more capable. even though Lara can perform acrobatic feats, Jill has an overall advantage in the toughness and training department.

I agree, Jill's outfit is hot.
Jill simply because she is the master of unlocking.
That and she SPOILERS AHEAD

I'm sure Lara is better in the sack, so she wins.
Oh yes, and Jill also wins cause she doesn't have to make blind leaps of faith onto ledges that she will always miss and fall into a bed of spikes.
