I don't know how I missed this originally, but I just found this game on a youtube walkthrough/let's play. What a beautiful RPG!
I am surprised it isn't here. :(
Anyone here played it? After watching it, I know I want it lol

I did, quite recently even. It's an amazing game. One of the best RPGs i've played actually.;)
If You want it here, join the whine at the wishlist, but You probably know about that already. ;)
A game made back when Westwood did things other than Command & Conquer. Another one to keep an eye out for is Nox and of course the classic Eye of the Beholder. If EA ever sign up you could see Lands of Lore and Nox. Fat chance on EoB though given the AD&D 2nd Edition license.
Did Westwood Studios ever make a bad game? I'm really struggling to think of one.
I've never played Lands of Lore, but have always meant to ever since I first saw it on Abandonia.
But then I have an exceedingly long list of games I'd like to play someday.

I never played it, but their final game, a space MMO, was said to be terrible wasn't it?
As for Lands of Lore I still own it and it is a good game... the narrative sections have a classic artistic quality to them, like King's Quest, while the core gameplay is timeless RPG stuff from that era.
Shame the sequels sucked.
I was always curious about the game while I was playing to Eye of the Beholder. On my 286. In 1999 ca :-P
I really liked Lands of Lore, but then I hit a massive difficulty spike and never bothered to finish the game. There was this one dungeon (a tower, I think) I just couldn't get through, no matter what I did.
Westwood were such a good developer, back in the day. I must have played the first two Kyrandia games about a dozen times each.
Bah, Black Crypt was the best!
im curious what part did you get up to? i love this game btw prop one that ill play over and over agen

The mine level is enough to make you decide if you have the patience and conviction to continue on. If you can get past that, you should be able to beat the game.
Is the tower the level with the amazons? It's been forever since I beat the game.
Yah, two tough parts :
- The mine, esp. the first monster. Easy to kill with a specific item, except no one tells you what this item is for.
- The tower level with the ghosts. A bit easier to kill with the right item, except no one tells you that these otherwise average-to-good weapons are good for.

Yeah, I think it was the amazons. I don't remember it all that clearly, but I think it was a white to blue-ish tower and the enemies there may have been women. They were in groups of four and very deadly.
Perhaps I'm remembering it all wrong, but what you wrote did sound familiar.
EDIT: Looked around and found a screenshot of the amazon tower. I really think that's it.

Maybe you remember the amazons because they were cute, but really there were not so tough enemies IIRC.

Maybe I just sucked. I wouldn't be all that surprised to hear that :)
But I solemnly swear that if GOG ever gets Lands of Lore, I'm instabuying it and I won't rest until I've kicked the amazons' cute asses.
Do you hear me, GOG? I'm counting on you!
Nice game that I had not heard of before. I watched about 7 of the "Let's Play" and it looks like a decent game. It would be nice to see on GOG, thanks for the post.
