GoJays2025: Ah the propaganda machine has done its job well I see.

Roberttitus: So you condone Piracy? Thats good to know.
But this isn't Piracy. It's an officially sanctioned remake. It's kinda like the remake of Lionheart (Thalion, not Reflexive/Interplay) that was condoned by the original developers/owners of the copyright.

Roberttitus: What the hell are you talking about? I am concerned about legality because you hear about people's lives being ruined by this kinda shit every day. I just don't want to be one of those people & try to prevent others from becoming one of them as well.

haha lol seconded
Not to be rude, Robert, but you do seem to be a bit paranoid.

StingingVelvet: Back on topic they seem to be saying they will never remake King's Quest IV, which sucks.
It may die at some point, and they certainly have been slow to make updates, but there are these fine folks working on KQ4:

http://www.mmgames.org/KQ4/

As far as I'm aware, this isn't officially sanctioned in any way. But it certainly looks good, and I hope they keep it going!

Inside the Readme, and in the game itself, it says that: King's Quest is copyrighted by Sierra Entertainment, Inc., and is used with permission.
So, either it isn't illegal, there was a misunderstanding, or these are bad people.
I'd say it looks to be dead in the water that KQIV remake.

As far as TT I was never a huge fan until I tried Sam & Max, the writing and characters are absolutely great, but still I know what you mean about their games.

Most people already knew this. I'm not sure what the other guy got so worked up about?

Wow I didn't know there was 7 & 8 as well. Are they any good?

it's what he does. Every time I see his silly face pop up he's freaking out about something being illegal when it's not. Either that or arguing over something entirely inane. The guy's out of his gourd. It's best to ignore everything he posts.

Silly face? Its probably alot better than yours motherfucker (& I mean that in the literal sense).

As for being out of my gourd... I agree completely. I'm quite insane... I have been to shrinks in the past & have documents to prove it. Whats your excuse for being a dick?

Actually i never played any King Quest, but I hear so much good about those titles that im actually giving a try those remakes. What Part is the best one to start?
For anyone interested the manuals for the originals can be found here http://safemanuals.com/brand-user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/GAMES%20PC

It's an annoying site to use with a lot of ads but they have a lot of the older games and don't put a logo on the front of the pdf like replacement docs :)

Thanks to ktseymour for the post on these btw, been wanting to try these for a while but the old engine looked a little daunting, now I don't have to skip to IV :)

That's a tricky question. Depends on whether you want to see the history of the series (and adventure games as such) or whether you want to play a good game. In the latter case, start with KQ3.

Let me explain: The very first game has historical significance, but is actually quite horrible. The remake is an exact copy, so it's just as horrible, but you can at least enable a feature that prevents you from getting into a dead end, which is very, very common in the original.

The original KQ2 is possibly the blandest adventure game ever. The remake is a complete overhaul which has about 10% in common with the original, the rest is brand new and, well, unimaginative. It's just a mixture of many other adventure games, most notably a major part of Quest for Glory IV thrown in without much tweaking. The remake is sort of enjoyable, but nothing special.

I'm currently about halfway through the KQ3 remake and really liking it so far. The time mechanics is still fresh and it's got personality. Which the first two completely lack.

If you don't want to miss the storyline, you could also watch a playthrough of the original KQ1 and KQ2 on YouTube (they aren't very long) and start with the KQ3 remake. Your call.

Same with me. Playing the Apple version didn't really excite me.

and you are quite possibly the rudest person that I have ever seen. I'm not saying that I condone the way he responded back to you but you most defenately deserved it. Why his is post is low rated and yours isn't makes no sense to me because you are the one who started calling names first.
