Lexor: Just to confirm - you have King's Bounty: The Legend only or some KB pack with some other versions also? Maybe this fixer was added with some later part of KB?

I've lurked into Steam forum and found this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=915705 - unfortunately this guide link forwards me to some standard game FAQ with no word about this fixer - is that because I'm not logged in on forum nor I'm not Steam member or everyone has the same?

BTW: I found this also and laughed really hard... :o
Well, I bought the complete King's Bounty pack containing The Legend, Armored Princess and Crossworlds. However, they are separate games with separate installers and I have only installed The Legend. So I'm pretty sure the save game repair tool is part of KB: The Legend and didn't come from installing Armored Princess.

The link on the Steam forums also sends me to the standard FAQ, but I don't have an account on the Steam forums either. I assume it's the same for everyone, though.

adambiser: It might also be interesting to see how the Save File Repair Utility changed the files to make them work.

Lexor: Yes, I'm going to look for it - maybe I'll be able to get some standalone version...?
.. or perhaps spindown could send the altered savegames to you..?

That would be also an option - but let me ask first my "1C friends" about that fixer ;)
GamersGate version doesn't contain such utility.

Do you have such version installed?

Yes, I've got Legends installed. I don't have Armored Princess but I can install it by tomorrow if needed.

Do you need something, fellow gOGer? :-)

Vitek: ...
No, its only KB:TL needed. Will you be able to do such things as spindown did with his Steam version?
- test of savegame: this and my & spindown's later posts
- command line magic: this and my & spindown's later posts

I hope I did output file right. :-) Rename it to ".txt"
The save is not working for me. Maybe I am doing something wrong (I downloaded it, renamed, extracted it and put "Training Center (test).sav" file into save directory) but when I tried to load it I was only offered my old saves and not this one. So it didn't appear in my game at all.

output file: yes, it seems to have everything I wanted - thank you very much for that! I've downloaded it and you can delete attachment if you want.
savegame: if you were able to unpack save it should be ok - so it is the similar situation as for Steam, interesting...

Thank you again for your time :)
I am glad I could help. I hope it will get resolved finally somewhere soon so you can enjoy this fine game again.

Just wanted to say thanks for all this detective work Lexor!

I get a bit OCD about making sure I have the latest version of my games so I've been following this situation closely. :P

I wonder why GOG's version is so different?
So, just to get this straight:

I have KB: The Legend on GOG, and I also have it on GamersGate. The GamersGate version hasn't been downloaded yet, so I could still trade/gift it away.

Is there any difference between the two versions due to which I should _keep_ the GamersGate version?

Unfortunately I still dont know why/when/what for did it happen but I hope I'll find some clues soon.

At the moment if you care to have closest possible world-wide version I would keep both versions just still do not use GG's one as I can't predict what will be final result of investigation.

Okay. Thanks for your time and effort to investigate this! :)
A small summary for today:
- I have already contents of GamersGate version of King's Bounty (thanks to Vitek)
- I am still waiting for contents of Steam version from Spindown (or any other volunteer)
