lowyhong: I still have no idea what this is, or what's supposed to be so special about it. Might be that I have been reading about it in all the wrong places, but I still don't know why one should buy it. It looks like a super generic RPG. On Gamersgate, the game's description seems to be typical PR feed with how epic/grand/brutal/revolutionary everything is. Why is the RPG community so hyped up about this game?
Well, the combat videos are really shiney, but I can give another good reason: "R. A. Salvatore."

In all seriousness, though, the game does look incredibly good. And if it weren't for Skyrim and Mass Effect 3, every major gaming magazine and site would probably be obsessing over it.

I've watched the trailers for this, read articles, been waiting forever to get my greasy hands on it. The combat looks amazing, i haven't seen an RPG With such good looking magic since well.. the first fable, even though it was short and didn't deliver what was promised, it still had a hell of an amazing magic selection.

The story? R.A Salvatore says it all.
and the team has got a member from a popular mod, and a member of who previously worked on morrowind.
Actually im warming to the idea of pre ordering this as well ($40 AUD from ozgameshop - free delivery - ive never pre ordered anything), but looking through the site im wondering a few things.
Is PC version the lead version?.-- ugh probably not judging by the video's. Consolie....
In blurbs seem to mention melee a lot and by the video's - seems an action heavy rpg (note on one of the video's Ian Frazier comments 'massive open world rpg...." ..."combat fused to hardcore rpg systems")
Wonder what they mean by open world??
.
Demo to be released Jan 17th (going by the FAQ)..hmmmm

After looking through the videos, reminds me more of a better version of DS3 :/..

This could go either way. Plenty mediocre action RPG's around. At least it has talented people developing it. And the guys seem to be really enthusiastic about it.

what i want? Honestly? That they release modding tools with the game. Then it will have much more potential. No, im not saying it should be skyrim. im saying mod's fix all of PC's problems when they are encounted.

The complex faction system is probably enough all by itself to set this apart. The fate weaver aspect is also a novel way to work in profession changes into the core of the gameplay.
One of my friends from back when I worked at EA was responsible for the music in this game, I do believe. So if you have more hearing than me, maybe you'll like it?

I'm just hoping the music will fit well with the gameplay. I cannot describe how many times i have played a game when calming music was playing during a combat encounter. It's severely dissappointing and can remove the player from the immersive experience, In return the player may lose interest and decide to switch to another video game, and then when the person is asked by friends "What did you think of the game?" It would be an "It was alright" rather than "It was great!"

It's also a flaw i have to plan for while working on my concept for my indie. Which, i am quite sure im never going to be able to develop because i planned for something too large o.O lol
The PC Demo for this game is due to be released today - I have not seen it yet but if anyone does please post here so we can all know. Thanks.

I'm downloading it right now on Origin... Veery slowly.
Preordered for PS3 already... game looks great :)

only doubt i have now, is whether to get it for Steam or PS3, now that it's been confirmed to not be Origin exclusive..

In the store there's a "free games/gratis spil" tab.

EDIT: I'm using the Origin client/thingie.
