KneeTheCap: Behold, the power of necronom... necor... nec...

Whatever.

Anyway, this games is quite awesome! How come people didn't play this?

RedRagan: I played the demo and I admit that the game is pretty fun. But I was strapped on gaming cash and there's always a much more interesting games released that stole my attention.

Maybe if it goes for 5 bucks on GOG or Steam....
Gamersgate seems to have it and the dlc on sale every so often, usually for 10 or so. If GOG picked it up it would be amazing. They have earned my customer loyalty.

I own accounts in Steam, GOG and Desura. I'm not sure about GamersGate....

So does EA own the rights for the Amalur, or...?

I wonder if they'll ever make a sequel?

I haven't been done wrong by them. If GOG didn't exist they would be my go to digital distributor. I understand not wanting your games spread around all willy nilly over the internet, though. I have Steam, GOG, Gamersgate, Desura, and now Shiny Loot. Also, Amazon.

I frequently find out I already own games that I want to buy, but 99% of those are because of the bundles.

I should count the bundles as well. Damn, life is too complicated.

I saw somewhere - might have been here that 38 Studios goes up for sale sometime soon. I am guessing the IP goes up for sale then too.
Since Origin is "experiencing technical difficulties" and I can't login and play the game right now... (grrrrrr!)

I have two questions.

1. Not really sure how the "X" key-thing works. Since there's no manual, and the downloadable PDF from the website is next to worthless, I totally forgot how that X thing works. You hold down the key, and it does... what exactly? Sometimes I can hold it down and a big ring will expand outwards. Sometimes, nothing. Am I supposed to be clicking wildly while holding the X? etc. Couldn't find it in the "Moves" unless it's called something weird. I thought it was the "Fate" move, but I can't find anything about it.

2. Is there any way to modify a setting so I can "pull back" the camera from my character? I feel like I'm riding piggy-back on his back. The game looks pretty cool, but I want to SEE it, not check my guy's hair for lice!

And we thank you for your support.
Oh god why did someone have to quote me and remind me of this piece of shit game's existence.

Sorry. I didn't know you hate the game that much.

I used a 360 controller, but found this, hope it helps :

Press and Hold X = Reckoning mode

Press F when the prompt appears = Finishing move in reckoning mode

Tapping Spacebar + Both Mouse buttons = easy 100% exp without any worries.

There is something in Options for the camera because I remember that I found it crap at the start, but I dont have the game installed anymore.

Maybe you can find something here :

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/991142-kingdoms-of-amalur-reckoning?search=camera

Hope you enjoy the game, I liked the Faction stuff alot, and there is some pretty awesome lore stuff in each area, the DLC's are quite good too.

Hahaha... I'm just being dramatic.

It's not bad really, just insanely boring and poorly designed.

StingingVelvet: SO... FUCKING... BORING.

I can put 300 hours into Morrowind without even noticing but 20 hours into Amalur I feel like fucking killing myself. Going to abandon this soon unless respecing to a warrior changes my mind.

Someone else was wondering that too: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2013/02/26/why-didnt-everyone-play-kingdoms-of-amalur/

What do you expect from a game that was originally going to be an MMORPG. Heck I think I have more fun playing a real MMORPG like WOW and Tibia.

DaCostaBR: Because it applies an MMO style of game design to a single player game. People don't actually think that a gazillion quests involving killing X amount of monster Y for NPC Z is something fun, they just enjoy doing it with friends, and Amalur offers the former, but not the latter.
Where are these quests? Granted, I've been playing this only for 8-9 hours, and I've seen 2 quests that require you to kill X-amount of animals (Spider glands and deer heads). Do they come later on?

I for one like solitary exploration, organized quest grinds tend to prioritize efficiency. But I do want a persistent interactive world with people in it that's meaningful to explore. The presence of other people makes the environment of a MMORPG a real place with weird laws of reality; much like fiat currency, collecting ten rat tails is a legitimate enterprise in a MMORPG because other people are doing it. This will never work in a plot-heavy single-player RPG that doesn't make providing a meta-narrative one of its primary purposes.

The two gathering quests I mentioned actually made sense. The spider glands were for an alchemist who makes anti-venom from them, and the deer heads were to re-enact a story to summon a... well, not gonna spoil it, but it made sense.
