Anyone here like this game, didn't think it was overly cluttered with a lot of shit in each level, the color choice was brown, brown, red, blue and got confusing when trying to spot enemies, and the long cutscenes every 3 minutes wasn't a choice ripped straight out of Final Fantasy XIII?

A new game that actually has couch co-op and it's like this? What a disappointment.
Heh, I'm wearing my Killzone 3 T shirt right now actually. Unfortunately, the only bit of it I got to play was pretty clunky, so I never bought it.

lukipela: And the story should not require me to play the previous two to have any idea what is going on.
I know it's a shooter we're talking here, and I have never actually played it, but come on, that's like saying you shouldn't have to read the previous 2 lord of the rings books to have any idea what's going on in the third installment :D
Did they fix the controls? I played Killzone 2 on a friend's PS3 and it controlled like the analog stick was drenched in paste.

I honestly don't know. I'm too busy fuming at the cluttered level designs to pay any attention to the game play, and when controller action does matter I can't see what the hell I'm doing on the screen because everything is so indistinct and without direction and there's nothing you can do except careen off walls until you get bounced in the right direction.

That's it! It's a shitty Disney movie where no one ever stops talking, where a character trips and suddenly they're mumbling "Oh...oh jeez...haha gotta watch out oh gonna trip wow jeez heya" because some idiot thinks noise is what keeps the kiddies entertained. It's like that, only here it's with objects and they're all the same color.
I played the MP beta back before it was released. It was okay I suppose but I didn't bother picking it up.

The final outcome is so much better than the MP Beta ;)
Only PSMove has an aimbot :P
Too bad PSN is still down... The MP part of Killzone 3 is quite fun.
One of my favourite FPS'es this gen

Fantastic SP and MP, A huge improvement over KZ2
I liked the controller "feel" in Killzone 2, if you've ever tried waving an assault rifle around (like me when I was in the army) you'd know that those bloody things weigh a ton and generally are too clunky to use in anything but stationary combat.

I think Killzone 2 had a balanced, well planned multiplayer and the rate at which you grow in ranks feels just right to me and having the option to play with similarly ranked combatants slowly introduces you to the nature of MP gaming, and to this day it's one of the 2 games I played regularly online. Haven't played KZ3 yet though.

lukipela: Must have played a different game :P
I know what I played

no need to Act like a smarty pants :p
Killzone 3 is so bland and boring. Every level looks like they wanted to put as much stuff as they could everywhere. Everything is grey or brown (even jungle :/). I haven't also seen this level of aliasing in ages. It looks awful :(.

Playing Killzone 3 was the same experience for me, as playing Project Snowblind/Judge Dredd/everyothergenericps2erashooter. Damn, I'm starting to think that even KZ 1 was better (it felt like a classic shooter, without gimmicks).

Plus, Uncharted 2 looks much better than KZ3.

Dunno about you but I play my games not look at them :P
And with all the respect to Uncharted 2 but the MP didn't suck me in :<

I've played each Killzone game save for the PSP game, and I like to consider myself a pretty big fan of the series, despite how shitty the first game for PS2 really is.

That being said, there are spoilers coming up, so if you haven't beaten Killzone 3, stop reading.

Last warning

Ok, so, here is my problem with Killzone 2 and 3. The ISA. It's easy to just look at the game and say "Oh, Helghast are the bad guys, ISA are the good guys, nuff said." If you actually read the extended backstory, you find it VERY difficult to side with the ISA. The Helghans used to control Vekta AND Helghan, and had a monopoly on the commercial shipping lanes. The UCN and ISA didn't appreciate the control the Helgans had over the shipping lanes, and so they waged a war over it, with the UCN and ISA winning, condemning the people to a harsh existence on the volatile planet Helgan.

Yes, thats right: The Helghan people were kicked out so the ISA could take control of the shipping lanes on their own terms, and put onto a planet that would likely kill them.

Now, the Helghans view the ISA and UCN as imperialist aggressors, and are attempting to gain control of Vekta, what they view as their rightful planet. Now, Killzone 2 and 3 attempt to villify the Helghast forces, given their treatment of POW's, killing their own soldiers for uniform infractions, etc. However, it's easy to see their justification for war. After their loss in Vekta, they are faced with an ISA invasion of their own planet, fueling Visari's propaganda that the ISA are the real aggressors.

Now, the 3rd game is where I cannot feel any sympathy with the ISA. Rico disobeys direct orders due to his absolute hatred of the Helghast. It starts with his killing of Visari, against orders, which leads to the massive Helghast counter-attack due to Visari no longer having control of all the generals, and more importantly, Stahl. While Stahl did want to destroy the UCN forces on Earth with his fleet, he did NOT want to attack Vekta with those weapons, since reclaiming Vekta was their entire goal. Stahl wanted to take the UCN out due to their initial invasion, and to keep their influence out of both planets. As a result of Rico's absolute hatred, he winds up decimating the majority of Helghan and its population, with no remorse for any innocents that may have been caught in any of the blasts.

After that ending, I fully side with the Helghast. Picture how this looks to the rest of the universe: The ISA surrenders and is in the process of negotiating the terms when the planet of Helghan is decimated by rogue ISA military members. Fuck the ISA.

Edit: Also, if you think I'm alone in this thought, you would be wrong. There are many people who have sympathy for the Helghast and a deep hatred of Rico, and for the ending of KZ3.
