Yes, yet another Kickstarter thread since I cannot seem to find the "official KS" thread...

"In celebration of Riddle of the Sphinx's 15th anniversary, since we have heard from so many people that they want ROTS in real-time 3D, we believe now is the time to "rebuild" the Sphinx and Great Pyramid — this time in real-time 3D with unlimited exploration... better than the original.

The new real-time 3D build of Riddle of the Sphinx makes exploring this beautiful epic adventure more enjoyable and more accessible than ever before, which is why we need your support."

This happens to be one of my all-time favorite adventure games - and hey, I found out about this from the creator of another of my all-time faves - the Myst guys ;-) Sadly I seem to have lost my disc copy somewhere along the way.

Anyway, adventure game lovers - this is one KS worth checking out!
The only reason Momo loves this game so much is because she was at the grand opening of the real thing.

Where is Sachys with his ICPM when you need him? ;-p
Thanks for the post as I usually miss the good stuff on Kickstarter. Plus, I've always enjoyed reading about the Egyptians and the pyramids. Fascinating stuff. I may have to put down some money for this!
Thanks for bringing this to my attention! Looks like a very cool concept.

I won't be able to back it, unfortunately, but I'll be sure to pass the word around.

I want to be your friend in real life, too.

HAHAHA....ooohhh your always in trouble mate ;)
Actually looks alright, I've always thought exploring some ancient Egyptian tombs would make a great adventure game, kinda reminds me of Tomb Raider 4. I wonder if this game will have some instant death traps like falling into pits of spikes etc.
Am I the only one that was expecting this to be about the Atari 2600 game? Now there's a game that deserves some sort of reinvention.
just backed this one played it the older version of it few years back
this new version is done in real time 3D,looking good.
Interesting concept :) To back or not to back, that is the question :P

You might try to put it into this thread:

*raises hand halfway*

I knew about both games that have that name, but wasn't sure which one they referred to from the title alone. I agree that the Atari 2600 game was pretty good for its time. But it's pretty much been forgotten completely by now.

I was thwarted by my lack of a manual. I never did figure out how to play it. I should see about finding a copy of the cart as I'm sure the manual is online by now.
I already backed this earlier, but this sure needs some backer-publicity or it's going to fail.

It doesn't really help that the pitch video is one of the worst I have ever seen on KickStarter. It just shows minute after minute some historical dates as text (which really are not tied up to anything afterwards), it doesn't show anything about the original game, and the very few shots of the new version really don't explain the gameplay or how the game is planned to flow.

I'm sure there have been potential backers who have left after a couple of minutes of that video and never returned.

They changed the pitch to this one after the slow opening days I guess. The initial one had Jeff talking for a few minutes about the game and who they were, followed by a trailer of the original. Wasn't spectacular either, but seemed to get the message across and the job done (to me at least); agree the change 'probably' wasn't the best of ideas.

btw, after writing to them about the video pitch, they did an update and added more footage and screen shots - thanks guys for the excellent suggestion and input!
