evilnancyreagan: Ken M. trolled my abilities as a troll with the sheer bombasticity of his posts.

I am not worthy, it is now time for the inevitable toaster-bath.

Rusty_Gunn: now now, there's no need for soggy toast.
THIS is why we need Ken M. in our lives.
Id rather read about scamming the scammers stuff rather than someone trolling in my little pony forums or whatever.

Internet has already enough forum trolls.

Assuming it wasn't all made up to begin with. You mean stuff like this? It's really just more of the same, albeit perhaps a bit more deserved.
I hope people are reading what I specifically linked to before passing judgement.

Cant find the scam biting forum i read for a while years ago, but stuff like this: http://www.419hell.com/ (have read this particular page, just took very quick look)

Certainly on internet its kinda difficult to know anything for 100% certain. But its sure was hilarious assuming it was all real. If it wasnt, well, someone had quite much free time time effort just to provide that stuff or minor forum.

Firebrand9: lol *facepalm*. "Oh ideal world! Why do you fail me?!" Taking things less literally and avoiding maximizing importance helps. "This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel." - Horace Walpole -

There's a very apt saying in Latin : Caveat Emptor.
Given our previous exchange, I can imagine how the misery of others (as, for example, in your "favorite" parrot story) would amuse you.

Unfortunately, many people do not have the luxury of seeing life as a comedy. Some have a pretty hard time, and can do without others making fun of them, or -as the author of your favorite story described his goals - "mess with them, confuse them, and/or piss them off." On purpose.

You might want to reflect about the "broken empathy" problem that gooberking remarked earlier, but I don't think his advice has any chance of actually getting through.

You have told me before that I shouldn't "take things seriously". I have made clear before that I find your callousness disgusting. Let's leave it at that.

Shambhala: Ruining other people's day and people's misery sounds like an overstatement to me.
They are just harmless pranks: people laugh at him thinking he's unbelievably stupid and he laughs at them back for believing he could be that stupid. No days are ruined and nobody's hurt.

Psyringe: Look, imagine you're a dad or mother with two kids who you want to make happy by giving them a pet. You have no money, so you're asking on the Internet if some kind soul, perhaps, has one to spare. Then comes along a guy who thinks it's funny to first get your hopes up by faking to be such a kind soul, then making some bizarre psycho remarks that include torturing and killing his own parrot, blaming and attacking you personally, and then posting the entire thing on the Internet for others to laugh about. While others cheer the troll on the Internet for whichever sad reason, you still have no pet for your kids.

And that guy does these things regularly.

Feel free to say and do whatever you like, but I really can't imagine how cold-hearted and blunted I would have to be to laugh about that.

Edit: Apparently someone threw links into a thread about "Ken", which link to material not actually related to "Ken", without mentioning that little detail. I should clarify that my post refers to something that turns out to be written by "John Lassiter", a guy who describes his goals as "mess with (people), confuse them, and/or piss them off." I don't know if that's another pseudonym of "Ken" or if someone just took a thread about one "troll" as an opportunity to present his own "favorite trolls" and delivered a particularly disgusting example.
I guess I didn't read the ones you are talking about, so I can't comment on that.

Reading this thread i remember i've read this one some time ago, old but classic. :D

It's about a Australian man trying to negate his bill with a selfmade picture of a spider, pure gold lol!

This is supposedly his website, there are many other trollings there as well, like Missy the lost cat :D

It's amazing the level that you take things personally.

Finding ability to view a situation humorously can hardly be called disgusting, though that sort of value-judgement is; ironic, isn't it? The world isn't bound to your values. Maybe it's time to come to terms with this.

You assume a lot on the part of the recipients, far too much for me to even list off the various hypotheticals, hence me stating taking it less seriously would help. How do you know the people even had these exchanges or that they didn't laugh about them later? The list goes on and on. Chances are this won't be the only thing to aggravate you today. Try not to seethe.
Wow! That's great! Hilarious!

Firebrand9: (snip)
I'm sorry, I really very much prefer to care about others' well-being (no matter whether I know them personally or not), rather than "amuse" myself with cruel "jokes" by someone who's explicitly stated goal is to "mess with people" and "piss them off".

You can, obviously, amuse yourself with others' misery, I can't. As I said, let's leave it at that.
I think you're overestimating the impact this has on people, assuming it has any at all. Taking all the sharp corners off life more negatively affects the people of a society than this ever would; an anti-Nietzsche approach is anti-nature. Go ahead and be how you want, you have that freedom, but don't expect it to change the obdurate and sometimes harsh nature of mankind.
