Here at GOG.com, we're all about our users and the partners who decided to join the crazy ride into the DRM-free PC gaming. We stick with them through sickness and health, the good and the bad times. As you may have heard, JoWooD is having some tough times lately. Together with the publisher we've decided to give you a chance to get your hands on all the JoWooD titles you're eagerly wanting to buy, but maybe haven't yet. Well, now's your chance to grab those gems at a heckuva bargain!

In this special week-long promo we encourage everyone to get JoWood games with an up to 75% discount! The catalogue includes such gems from PC gaming's past like , [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/gothic_2_gold_edition]Gothic 2, , [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_guild_gold_edition]The Guild and more. If you buy all games from JoWood's catalogue, or complete the collection, you'll receive a 75% discount! If you're interested only in some games from the offer, you can still get them for bargain with 60% off! The promo ends on Tuesday, May 3 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

Since you guys are all going to be asking: we don't know what the future holds for JoWooD. To be safe, though, we recommend that you download any JoWooD titles you've purchased--either from this promo or not--and archive a backup of the GOG installer, because it never hurts to be safe.

amcdermo: That shouldn't be an issue as all the games are drm free. So it should never be necessary to use anything but the downloaded installer.

iuliand: Well, some games on GoG require additional individual keys for multiplayer, so this question makes sense after all.
It would be nice to see a reply form GoG regarding this, but I think they fear their support department will be overwhelmed with key requests.
I usually buy single player only games so I didn't know this. When you buy a game that needs a mutiplayer key do you not get it at the point of purchase like you would elsewhere?
Anyone know which of the two Alien Nations games is a better choice?

No. Here you need to request it to support. And you have to know for what games you need individual keys.

Blutmaul: Joowood went bancrupt recently and will probably be closing business.
Does this in any kind have some impact on the Joowood games GoG does offer, will this games be still in the GoG catalogue?
Pretty sure this is the reason they're having the sale in the first place. :D Last-ditch effort to make some moneys and avoid the reaper's sickle.
avatar
keeveek: It's just a gog cause to find out who will get these rights and sign new agreement to sell them...
avatar
Leroux: Sure, and I bet the GOG team will try to do this in order to keep the games here. But the new IP owners are not obliged to sign another agreement with GOG. There's no guarantee that they'd have an interest in that. Maybe they do, maybe they don't. And if they don't GOG can't keep on selling the games in question (and maybe not even offer them for download anymore). That's why it's advised to buy any game you want now and make a backup of it, in case you don't want to run a risk. What you make of that advice, that's up to you.
You're right, but keeping them alive is in their best interests. It's just pure income to make GOG.com sell these games further. But of course, they are not obliged to do so.
No. Here you need to request it to support. And you have to know for what games you need individual keys.
And this is just... wha...? I think that we should make a community list of games that require individual keys for multiplayer...

There are already several topics with lists and there is even a wiki under construction.. all of which a real community member would know...

That whiffs of elitism.

Magnitus: Assuming that the company providing the service would be legally obligated to provide you an advance notice before shuting down everything, it would give you the time to do on-disk backups as necessary before the service shuts down.
I don't like leaving this assumption to online companies. After the GOG publicity stunt, I decided to back up every single digital copy I own of games or music. It doesn't have to be immediately after buying it, but it makes me feel oh so safe inside that if an earthquake or a tornado one day hits GOG, I can still play the games I bought.

Not so much with Steam. I've got them backed up but if the earthquake or tornado (let's assume it's the same one, to make it seem that more disastrous) hits Steam, I'm pretty much fucked. Well, not as bad as they themselves would be, but still. I back them up mostly so I don't have to wait for long downloads when I want to reinstall them.

Also, if a company warns it's going under, my, what a wonderful experience it must be downloading your dozens of games... along with everyone else doing exactly the same.

maybe im not so REAL, just imaginary, LOL.
Well, after all my misgivings I still ended up picking up Chaser, the two Dark Falls, and Neighbors from Hell.

Currently being forced to play the quicksave/quickload game in even the opening levels of Chaser on Normal.... maybe I should've started on Easy?

Or maybe I should use that Adrenaline button.....

No guarantee these will work as I haven't installed the game yet to test it but here you go:

http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/chaser/cheats.html

Chaser Cheat Codes

Using Console and the cheats that go along with it
Unlocking console:
Find your shortcut to "Chaser" and select properties, then add "-console" at the end of the target line (without the qoutes). While playing the game, push ~, then submit one of the codes below in the console window to unlock that particular cheat code. You must push the "+" on the right hand side of the screen to activate the cheat, then push ~ to resume the game.

Cheat Effect
\cht_god God mode
\cht_flymode Flight mode
\cht_armor 100 100 additional armor
\cht_health: 100 100 health \cht_health
\cht_weapon <name> Spawn indicated weapon
\cht_giveall All weapons and items
\cht_timescale <number> Change game speed

Chaser Cheat Codes
Thanks, but I don't use cheat codes. It feels too much like cheating :)

Only exception is a noclip cheat when I'm stuck because of a glitch or something.

Edit: Ok, another exception is using save states in emulators. But that's because I can admit how much I suck at platformers >_<

Dear reader

It is possible that YOU WILL DIE next week.
As such - I suggest you live your life to the fullest, because while we're sure you'll do everything in your power to prevent such a sad fate, it is still a possibility you cannot exclude.
Thank you and have a nice day.

Dear Vestin,

I will have plenty of time to live my life to the fullest once I'm dead.

Sincerely,
Kalirion

No problem, I don't think they work on the GoG version anyway. At least not for me. I try not to cheat but I'm no good at fps games.
