UPDATE: A few of you made sad faces about the fact that GOG.com was looking only for Poland-based folks for our head of IT, because you thought you'd suit us right down to the ground even though you didn't live here. Your tears of sorrow have shown us the error of our ways. We're now opening up our application pool to anyone, so if your lifelong dream was to monkey with the servers at GOG.com, go ahead and send your C.V. and cover letter in!

[i]Note that anyone who gets hired for this position will still need to live in Warsaw for the actual work itself, so keep that in mind if you're chained to a post by your ankle and can't leave.

The constant growth of GOG.com's popularity, the bigger and bigger user base, and the need to keep our site and servers up and running at full speed requires our team to grow. We're all gamers here as you know and we're looking for people who share the same passion for good, old games, that's why we're posting this job offer here on GOG.com. If you have experience in managing information technology systems, live in Poland and you'd like to shape the glorious future of GOG.com and digital distribution, check out our job offer for Head of IT at GOG.com.

Do you need a tea person/general dogsbody too?
Do you need a Marketing Guy in Germany?

I worked already 7 years in market research ;)
Do you need a mining engineer???
A płotów nie macie jakichś do pomalowania czy coś?
I have none of the prerequisites, but I can idolize a storm!

C'mon, I'd be great for morale!
And be prepared, I'm pretty sure that the interview process for any IT position includes a marathon of playing through GOG's secret vault copies of System Shock in a single sitting in Iron Man style, with no reloading.
"Availability

Candidates need to be already based in Poland"

Damn, oh well, good luck to everyone who will apply, no doubt GOG will get bigger and bigger from the release of Witcher 2 :)

Fixed.

AFAIK it's against EU-wide employment law to require someone to already be a resident of the country you're offering the job in.

You can ask that they already have appropriate living/work permits of course - but that covers anyone living anywhere within the EU.

I'd have thought the Poles would have known this - seeing as 50% of UK taxi drivers appear to be Polish! ;)

p.s. I'm not sure of the specifics in Poland, but EU Employment Law also forbids ageism - and by asking for 2 years of experience you could be breaking that aspect of the law too.

In the UK (where I know the specifics) you're not allowed to ask for x years of experience - you have to ask for "commensurate experience" or "in-depth experience" - you can't set a time (because that sets an age limit).

Too bad that I'm already responsible for IT at a post production studio...

Hmm. I already do this, but I don't live in Poland. Sorry.
Bah, linux and need to be already based in poland... Any chance of opening an australian office?
Hm, I don't have all of the requirements, but maybe there is another position available? All I have to say is: "Please make me your monkey boy!"

(Well, OK, I mostly just wanted a chance to use that line)
