KeitaroBaka: Your new downloader downloads bonuses in folder "additional_content". The old downloader (linux) put it in "additional_contents" (plural). The new downloader just start to get all my bonuses again. Do you correct it or do we change all our folder names ? Just to know.

EDIT : King's Bounty downloads to correct folder, the display in app is wrong, but it works fine. Thank you !
Wooops :s will add an "s" in the next release :)

WrathOfTheAngels: Is your connection slow?
Sadly, my connection is relatively slow, and sometimes fails without warning. (That's the point of a robust, resume-capable download system, which GOG doesn't have.) Thank you for working on a solution for unfortunate like me, even if my first attempt to use it didn't work. It's nice to know somebody is doing something about this absurd circus of idiots.

avatar
WrathOfTheAngels: do you have the same problem with other games?
Amusing! No, and I won't. When I stop having problems getting this game, I might gamble on buying another. (A lot of people probably feel this way.) Until then, I only have one test subject.

WrathOfTheAngels: I don't own Postal 2
You know, I don't either. I suspect the only difference is that I paid for it. The joke is on me.
sorry, yesterday, after work, I was too tired to do something. I hope to fix today...

WrathOfTheAngels: please comment, so that I can improve it :)

OneNight: Windows XP SP3, Postal 2:
After the first run, it logs in just fine. I choose the option and the program thinks about it and then shows me the available files. But... the length of each component in the collection is listed as -1 bytes.

It starts with the first file, the .exe, confirms that it is -1 bytes long, and then shows a download error... tries again... ad infinitum.

Maybe this is a known problem? Or the script doesn't know about Postal 2?
Please, can you post the output of the application? from where it says "You have choose to download...."
Sorry, I'm having problems with the server. All download will result corrupted till tomorrow

WrathOfTheAngels: Please, can you post the output of the application? from where it says "You have choose to download...."
I'm sorry, I lost my temper and brute-forced the download with the GoG beta application -- it finished two hours ago -- and right now, there are very few things in the world I wouldn't do instead of THINKING about my experience with this site. I've got some unpleasant work to do today, and I'm actually kind of happy about it.

Because it isn't this, and it makes sense, and the processes involved are functional and involve sanely designed systems. I may actually wear a flower in my buttonhole today.

But thanks for helping people. People like you make the world a better place.
re-upped the zip file contaning the downloader. sorry, but yesterday I was having problems with the uploading through filezilla to the ftp server.

Togheter with Xenon (the guy that owns the web site that is hosting the downloader file) I'm working on the mac version of the downloader. It will be ready soon... Stay tuned

I'm pretty sure cURL exists by default on all Mac OS X installs, would it be possible to use that instead of wget?

Also, the Windows version is working fine so far, although a progress bar would be a nice touch.

Of course, but I should have to re-write more source code and study how curl works. Instead, I have structured my source code so that is possible to add the binaries of a wget working on a certain os and then write only a bit of code :)

The progress bar will be present in the GUI version :)

I have a feature request, I'd like the possibility of specifying the folder (either name or full path) for each game.

You normally use the default folders "baldurs_gate_the_original_saga" and "baldurs_gate_2_complete" for those two games, but I 'd like them to be downloaded to folders named "Baldur's Gate 1" and "Baldur's Gate 2" instead (so they get sorted correctly), I could have a textfile (say "folders.ini" or whatever) with the lines:

baldurs_gate_the_original_saga=Baldur's Gate 1
baldurs_gate_2_complete=Baldur's Gate 2

If the file or the lines for those games are not present, the downloader would use the default folder names.

Actually, for the Baldur's Gate series this isn't as important (because they're sorted right after each other anyway), but for Alien/The Nations, Myst/Riven/Uru, (Heroes of) Might and Magic, Divine/Beyond Divinity, and Constructor/Mob Rule, I like the same series to be close to each other, hence why I'd like to specify custom names for the folders.

You can now download the modified version. You'll need to edit the file called "folder.txt" under datas directory. The first time, you will find it after that the application shows you the list of your games. You can edit it before you type your choise, or before you run again the application.

Now the application should also work on mac, by going to the console and typing
java -jar JGoGDownloader.jar
But it is still at an early stage, so I don't reccomend you tu use it.
