This game is one of my most wanted on GOG.
Fun RTS based on the HG Wells novel (Yes, it has the original Victorian setting) and uses the Jeff Wayne Rock Opera as the soundtrack.
Only in the 90s would you find people crazy enough to make games based on musicals.
A fucking AMAZING musical
The game was pretty good too though remarkably hard

Seconded! Never tried the game though.
A great game still remember the intro train going past a tripod and then the tripod zaps it was its ray gun. Music was great . I loved the way you played with victorian/ww1 weapons against the martians.
Not sure who would have the license for it now think it was released originally by GT interactive which was bought by atari i think.
I seem to remeber that it got pretty awful reviews on release so i never tried it.
And that big holographic image of Richard Burton's head that is used for the live show gives me night terrors. It reminds me of God from the The Time Bandits. (And that scared the crap outta me too.)

This one? One of my favourite game intros ever
The game itself was pretty good really, no idea why it got bad reviews but I suppose the resource management was the likely cause, it was pretty tough to manage

I don't care if Cats was made into an adventure game, it's a really messed up concept.

I actually know two guys who play tested it. No matter what they reported as broken they were just ignored. The whole Q&A department got extremely depressed because they knew the game was going to bomb based on game breaking bugs the Devs would just not fix. Shame as it had a lot of potential.
I think i'll stick with the music only..;)
Even though it has the quirky poppy moments, anything that has Phil Lynott AND Justin Hayward deserves praise.

Yeah, an Alien attack on Earth is really a messed up computer game concept. Will never work.........
The game is really based on the HG Wells Novel, with the Wayne musical just serving as the musical soundtrack.
You have read the Wells novel, haven'nt you???

Jesus now you are asking a question to I once knew 13 years ago. I never even actually played it. The Q&A guy's told me not to bother.
