Smoke131: I also don't understand the hatred for steam, I have never had any problems with it.

Move to Europe and try not to hate company, which acts like "Pay more, European scum! We charge you more, because we can."
But thou liveth in the holy USA, thou art the Chosen One.

Well, I live in HK and I pay USD prices (which makes me cool), but I have COMPLETELY different issues with Steam. Hell, with D2D. And Impulse. And Gamersgate. I'm sure you can guess what it is.
Anyway, I thought in Europe prices on Steam are divided in tiers, so something like tier 4 gets really cheap prices, sometimes even cheaper than US prices.

StingingVelvet: There are tons of tech issues on these forums for every game, and some games, like Sacrifice I know, do not work right on 64bit systems.

Sacrifice works completely flawlessly on my Vista64. Never had a problem with it.

They are, but only for Valv€ games, IIRC. Third-party games still have their "FU Europeans" pricing.
And the cheapest tier is for 3 (three!) countries - Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. The average tier is for the former Eastern Block countries (maybe a few others too), and the most expensive tier is for the western countries.
For the record, i love stEAm / valvEA...just saying...
Trine just got its price lowered by 10:
US: $19.99
UK: £16.99 (38% higher)
EU: 19,99€ (47% higher)
So....I am not supposed to be pissed? Especially with our average salary being half of what the US is?

Trine is *ok*, but $20 is still steep.

Yeah, and $29,40 is even steeper...

Cliftor: So I guess we're to take Lucasarts recent affair with Steam as a signal that they're firmly in the "fuck the consumer, we're gonna DRM-it-up like it's no tomorrow so we can tell stockholders that we've taken reasonable steps to protect our IP while also capitalizing on it" camp and that they'll never release ANYTHING on GoG?

That's why Weclock and TheJoe set up UGSS. Join us. You will be assimilated.

The Borg was always the crappiest part about Star Trek...

Ah NAW you DIDN"T! Borg are like the most fun villain of all time. They're relentless monotonous menace is the perfect villain for the modern age! That or corporate thugs, those are popular and relevant too.
This is an excellent example of the average Steam user's IQ.

The sad thing is; I knew exactly which thread it was going to be before I even clicked on the link. Still, that thread also confirms that the more "rep" you have on Steam is simply an indication of how pathetic you can make your posts (for further proof of this, just glance at the "Off Topic" forum.)
