Hello,

My name is Jason (Jace) Hall and some of you may know of me.

I have been contemplating the idea bringing Blood back and was wondering how people might feel about it or if they were interested in helping me to do it.

To be clear, I am thinking of bringing the ORIGINAL Blood game back as it was, with functionality alterations/enhancements that are similar but superior to ZDAEMON's. I would also make it work on all platforms, and not just PC. There are other things as well...

I have a very specific vision in mind for what I'd like to do, but before I go off and do it - I wanted to speak directly with the Blood community and see what the thoughts are.

My goal of course is for this all to be free, and all about gameplay and fun. You can rest assured that I have the resources to bring BLOOD back properly but like I said, I'm hoping to have the community participate in all this if it wants to so we can all do it together. This site is great and it would be great to see the Blood community grow!

What do you all think?

Jace

What is there to enhance? Really, Blood is one of the few shooters that I just can't think of anything, it worked as it was. Unless he just wants to add a grenade shortcut.

HD graphics might be nice....also maybe some new expansions.

Yeah, new levels would be brilliant. It would also lead to community having access to source code, kind of.
I think blood should be left alone as we have seen remakes doo not make a good game make. This also happens n the film industry.
Can't they just make it open source and let the web take care of it. That seems to me the more logical solution.

Build engine sources are rumored to be harder to comprehend than brainfuck code

Besides, the source code for Blood has been lost.

More modern controls. By that I mean things like properly implemented mouse look rather than the clunky shit in the original game.

But yeah, there really isn't a lot about that game you could change without risk of ruining it. I don't even know if HD graphics would be an improvement. The low-res-ness of it all left a lot to the imagination. What style would you use in HD? Torchlight-esque painterly? CoD so called realism? What would work?
Kind of off topic, but I recently purchased Blood and its expansion for 2 bucks (Discs). Do they install on Win 7?

If you write a book, you must give one copy to the national library for savekeeping. The same should be done with freakkin source codes! ARGH!
For free? Bring it on.;)
I hope it won't limit the KB/mouse control scheme to the controller capabilities. And yes, i'm one of those who did use most of the keybindings [redefined ofc] in those games.

Jace claims that he has it.
Honestly - this is probably the best news I heard this week. We may actually see a version that runs fluently on a resolution higher than 640 x 480.
