Hi Everyone,

I'm Sarah, I'm new to GOG :), I've got an idea for a game for GOG, I've had a good look around and I cannot see another game like it on here, I'm not sure where to start really, apart from that I have my game graphics sorted :), the only programming language that I know of is PHP/MySQL which I know won't be useful for a download based game :p.

welcome to the forum and gog! you can make a game with php and mysql, and if the user doesn't win you use a query like drop table or even database, that will equals to a perma death in a rogue like type game :P

Well these days, there's generally little reason to code a game from scratch unless it's doing something extremely unusual or you just want to for the experience.

There are a number of prebuilt tools and engines you can use. What you go for depends entirely on the type of game you are making, intended platforms and your experience.

I'm a non-game developer myself, but I have some limited knowledge in this area. If you need what guidance I can offer, send me a PM.
