It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Big_McLargeHuge: I think you just right click on the image and view it (if you're on Firefox). In the URL is a month and year.
I'm using Firefox (v15.0.1) and right click over the image of any user doesn't work for me... only the common options, like save image, etc...
That wouldn't solve anything. Since gog is banned on most business networks with firewalls it is easy to use an encrypted browser like TOR. However the browser is routed through Denmark.

Also several people use proxies while trying to access the site through a firewall.

Big_McLargeHuge: Maybe GOG can setup a system where your location is automatically checked and updated based on your IP address? Idk if that's secure but it seems like it would solve the moving problem.
avatar
Azrael360: Exactly, that can be easily implemented. Based in the IP, GOG can check the location of origin where the user in now. And that can be posted under the Avatar ;)

It's already in place, I never put my country, but it's visible. In the case of our scammer, he's using a VPN or something to change this.

Damuna: ...You've never heard of a proxy server, have you?
Didn't even think of that haha damn.

Yes, you can change your location with that, to access content in the web that by normal means you can't, like been in China to access web pages from other countries, or to fake your location. But that is a "service" not all people can access.

View image. You have month and date in URL.

Well, it's extremely easy to use and VPN-s are dirt cheap...

You can change your country in GOG, in My Account --> Messages --> Settings --> My location...

Exactly, didn't know that, thanks for the heads up! :-)

Thanks, but mine says 2012/04, and that can't be, since I'm using the same avatar since August 2011... :P

Perhaps you changed it for a moment? :P
Or GOG moved it servers/changed naming scheme in meantime?

Damuna: People move. When I first registered, my location was the United Kingdom, but I moved back home. Likewise, hedwards is currently in China, so he changed his location from the United States to PRC.

GOG has explicitly stated that they do _not_ store or evaluate any location data of their users (except when you buy The Witcher 2, for which they have been forced by a judge to implement regional pricing). Unlike other services which are pretty much leering for the personal data of their users, GOG wants to keep every user's data footprint as small as possible. This is a good thing.

They check it on registration, so they can set your location properly.

I think that's the case, because other users I've been in contact, have the same date 2012/04 in the URL.
Would it be too pathetic to impersonate myself to raise my importance? :-)
This is exactly why I never trust anything any of you say.

If someone gets scammed by someone impersonating me, you had it coming because you shouldn't have trusted me (nor my impersonator) in the first place.
