I gave him some non GOG games, so was not scammed in the traditional sense. I was just welcoming a new user. Thank you again for your response :D

Firek: This individual has now been thoroughly banned. Sorry it took so long, but we had to do some backend tinkering to make this work properly. A specialized team of thugs has also been sent to his house. We tried to implement breaking knuckles over TCP/IP, but our experiments weren't promising.

Anyone who's been scammed by this guy, please contact Support. For our convenience, please set the title to "Forum scam" and attach a screenshot of the PM you got from him. Also, copy-paste the code you lost, as well as his username, into the support ticket (so we don't have to figure out what kind of character-switching he has done). We'll give all those affected a code worth up to $14.99, to make things right.

We will also do some changes to the PM page to make it easier to spot a potential scammer.
That's a great notice, Firek! And the compensation to the affected GOGers is another token of GOG's care towards this community. :)

BTW, may I offer the services of the GOGAG (GOG Assassins Guild) to solve the issue once and for all? Plenty of tools for breaking knuckles (and other interesting parts of the human anatomy) to choose... :D

Just like Google does... they send a verification code to your mobile.. that you have to enter to create an account...
What other game seller does this online equivalent of a cavity search?

And FYI, I don't have to provide a phone number when creating a Google account.

i'm no fan of requiring a second piece of hardware to participate in the forums. And not just cuz i happen to not have a mobile ;~p Bugs me that facebook keeps spamming me to get one. Marketers just want more stuff to tag our "likes" with. Not cool what they do, but your idea had merit :)

I am not a fan either.. just thinking that a scammer won't go out to buy mobile numbers everyday to create accounts... when he doesn't want to spend a dime on doing a fair trade or buying games as it is

I thought the whole scamming business was revolting, though I'm not trading myself.
Happy you're taking action GOG and hopefully there will be some consequences in RL for the scammer(s).

I don't think I rightly qualify for the rebate, but it still be okay to post a picture to get back a code I had given him for free? Someone gave me a spare Realms of Arkania code I think and I had passed it along to the scammer when he did some begging before I ever knew that this was actually going on. In this it wasn't really a proper scamming, but that code should still go to someone who would use it.

Post edit: Turns out I don't have the messages from when he was still Anasto, probably because he went and blocked me on it. I do have the code from the person who gave it to me before as a bonus in a trade we had done, and a short discussion from another person who was interested in the code (Anasto had asked for it first)

But how can you "thoroughly ban" somebody? Can't he just come back with a new account?

Maybe something to do with the IP adress ? I don't really know A-lot about networking... but... is it possible ?

The mention of back end tinkering makes me think (as N0x0ss suggests) that they might have IP banned him.

Stalk the accounts and the IPs, check if some "proper" account keeps getting the same IP in short periods of time and then ban the Swedish kittens out of that proper account.

...or like, call their ISP and complain about the scamming.

...or use old CD Projekt contacts and have a lawyer send a scary letter.

...maybe.
