I should add he faked the user Big_McLargeHuge's name with one using two underscores. I hope that helps your search for names of his to ban. :)

I can honestly say, I hadn't even thought of putting that through a translator!

With you being Brazillian Portuguese is your national language I believe hence you managing to translate it (Correct me if I am wrong, I don't like being ignorant to others cultures)
A suggestion from me,on other boards to combat spam the Pms systems are not activated for new users until they reach a certain number of posts,or days active,I would suggest implementing such a feature here.

I think this would be pretty extreme, and, at the end of the day, even that would be exploitable.

Our primary concern is helping people realize someone's trying to scam them. Currently the PM page doesn't offer much help to legitimate users.

We will make the account's rep and creation date visible in the PM site. I know it won't be this week - most likely our web devs will be able to implement this early next week. Not making any promises here, though.
If people still get scammed afterwards, we might start highlighting the rep and date if they're "suspiciously" low (like below 5 rep and 7 days).
If people still get scammed, we might put some kind of warning, like many chat interfaces warn you not to give anyone your password etc.
At this point, if people still let themselves get scammed (and I can think of no better way to describe such a situation), I'm not sure what else we could do to help avoid it, that wouldn't make the lives of new, legitimate users, more difficult.

Blood samples. Submit by mail, wait two weeks, and then your account is set up. I'm the head of marketing. I have the power to make this happen!

Bwaha. Bwahahaha. Bwahahahahahahaha!
Impressive. Awesome job GOG!

He only resorted to impersonating people once he'd made everyone wary of new users, because initially he was just scamming everyone with new accounts.

He sent me quite a lot of PMs taunting me but never actually scammed me. I received taunts about the scams from the following usernames:

kuzakista
icecube1
aviciii
pokederp

I'm also highly suspicious of gaming_geek and mildly suspicious of hitbox so it might be worth checking what IP addresses they have connected from to see if they're the same guy or not.

EDIT: I'm guessing you guys have a ton of condemning evidence now, right? I'm sure the scammer's ISP would be interested to know what he uses his connection for...

Today is a great day, one big problem over.

Thanks GOG :-).
Ah I have a great Idea :-) : I'm gonna create a fake account, pretend I lost a game to a scumm, and GOG will "compensate" me with a 15 $ free game :D

I'm kidding Of course...

What is to stop them from making multiple accounts for purpose of up-rep'ing? Can you sick a bot on that? Have it scour the data and flag out any suspicious back and forth up-rep's? Might also help deter rep warring, at least that kind that GR engaged in not long ago.
As good as GOG is with this gesture, the scammer has basically cost GOG hundreds of dollars in compensation claims now....

I sent a message to support (Title "Forum scam") with all names of those legimate users, that I know of, that were impersonated and the names the scammer used to impersonate them.

And thank you for taking measures against him!

A simple verification could be added using a mobile number...and limiting the number of accounts per number... say 5... not that one would need that many accounts.. just in case somebody does not have a mobile.. they could use their friends number... just for account creation purposes only

Just like Google does... they send a verification code to your mobile.. that you have to enter to create an account...
